Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Same story, different company

Last week, a friend asked me about working here since he's thinking about transferring. He’s fed up with Wells Fargo due to too much work, a problematic manager, and an overall toxic vibe. I had to break it to him that we're no different. Truth is, in this industry, there’s no "good" workplace. Just the same problems in slightly different flavors.

My position was eliminated and l was lucky enough to land at PNC at few months later. The difference in culture is staggering. Sooo much better.

We are super toxic here. So there is no relief to be had. However, WF is morbidly toxic. So far, BNY does not have employees dropping dead in the offices only to be discovered when a stink gets up as WF and BofA did. But, given enough time, that goal could get achieved here

Agreed but from everything I’ve heard about WF, we do have it slightly better here… in terms of workload and work/life balance.

WF is a typical investment bank meaning they constantly overwork their employees until they burn out whereas we’re more on the ‘underpaid, messed around and over-frustrated until you leave or are fired’ camp haha.

Either way, changing jobs between banks in this environment is …. a choice.
