Remote workers

Any idea when remote workers should be displaced by this year? Before or after the holidays?

Remote worker before Covid. I can no longer send outbound email. First clue that the end is near, possibly Tuesday?

It is highly unlikely that normal layoff routines will happen in December or January. Typically, the bank does not like to do hiring/firing around year end. For most, I'm willing to bet that they will be safe until early Feb. Then we'll be back to every Tuesday after a pay period being an option for scheduled displacements.

Of course, there will be exceptions for things like misconduct that don't require planning and coordination.

Also, people need to be aware that the level of aggressiveness for terminating remote employees varies pretty wildly by business. Some areas have already gotten their remote counts down to a very small number. Other areas haven't actively done anything yet outside of backfilling with remote workers. Any dates that people provide are worthless as general rules since each business is working under their own schedule.

Last round of layoffs that affected us displaced 2 office workers per remote worker. You're damn right about not missing the office workers. Those were some of the biggest number padding phonies on our team.

I was told May '25. Maybe there are 2 "Waves" again. Who knows, but I have countdown timer. I only have to survive this train wreck for ~174 more days.

If you violate the terms of the relocation agreement, then you get the ax and will have to pay back the lump-sum relo allowance. If WF decides to displace you after you have signed the relo agreement, then you keep that money and can still get severance.

Remote workers have been let go on a rolling basis through this month. You just do not know about it because they were not essentially or high performing. The rest will get the ax in 2025. Some essentials will continue to get exceptions.

Things are not always so black and white as you all make it out to be. There is not one big date. Get the Big Bang idea out of your heads.

Full-time remote since pre-Covid here. Was offered relocation instead of severance. Actually hoping for displacement and severance later instead of having to move.

There's just under 20k left that are officially remote. HR can't can that many that fast. In office workers are actually termed in larger numbers these days.
