Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Large Surplus pre 5 day RTO?

Got notice today. All Network NFOW to do 5 day RTO starting January 6th. How will that be possible when you have buildings that capacity was for 70% of people reporting to that office and parking is less than half of people reporting to said office. How is this a well thought out plan'? Let's not even mention that this 'well thought' out plan does not provide designated table, cube, desk space but drop in space for all. This must be several local and federal safety violations. UNLESS there is a massive surplus coming based on whether designation is way over 100% capacity?

So, what's the word? Layoffs coming prior to January 6th?

Layoff notifications coming 11/22. Also hear there will be demotions.

Regarding space in office. We were told by our leadership that there is not enough space in the Atlanta office for all of us to have a desk. That’s a fact.

"Not sure about office space. But do you think companies in NYC or Chicago provide parking for everyone? This resource may be helpful."

You might want to use the resource yourself since you failed to understand that the MARTA train does not come close to Alpharetta and is over a mile away from Lenox. The only buildings to which MARTA was, our d-mb mass leaders sold.

I love that CRE has spent SOOOO much money attempting to renovate and "add" spaces to the Alpharetta and Lenox campuses just to solve the space issues of 3Day RTO. And now they expect to have the capacity for 5Day?

“They are not going to have people come in 5 days if they cannot sit down so just show up and you’ll find a spot. All these fake reasons you can’t come to work are getting so annoying. You guys have it too good and it’s getting so obvious.”

The amount of trolls saying that space isn’t an issue is hilarious. Just today at Alpharetta there is no space right now on the floor I’m at. We’ve had tons of people come through and mention there’s no space so they have to go to other floors or other buildings. News flash there probably won’t be space there either.

This is the week before thanksgiving week with 3 days still in place. It’s going to be an absolute nightmare in January.

They know this. They want this. We are supposed to deal with it. It’s not professional and it’s a complete joke.

“it's time to eliminate excess fat”

Start where the fat is both the most costly and excessive….the C suite!

Carpooling should be used to avoid parking issues. It also allow s for collaboration opportunities outside of working hours.

"Alpharetta is lacking a good 33% of desk space and over 50% parking. How is that even legal?"

They don’t care. Simple as that. We can complain all we want. Until we collectively take action, nothing is going to change just get worse and worse.

There is no requirement for a company to provide parking. I worked for years in a building that the company provided no parking. Everyone had to go find their own parking arrangements.

Even if people leave with 5 days in office they will still do layoffs. They want to get their numbers down significantly. We’re talking a reduction down to 100K employees from 145K. Do you think 1 out of 3 will resign because of 5 days in office by end of 1st quarter? I highly doubt it. There are some people, especially the older ones, who know this is their last job and need to make calculations for healthcare and retirement. Young talent will leave but there isn’t much of that at the T.

“They took away dedicated space because we they shifted to flex workers now 5 days with no dedicated space.”
Dedicated space is no longer the intended working environment. Open areas are the new corporate standard for enhanced collaboration.

Why would they do another layoff when thousands are about to quit with no severance, and no unemployment? Unless the workers show solidarity and push back as a group, AT&T wins this no matter what.

Each building must specify max number of occupancy on each floor
if over the limit, and reported to fire department, a heavy fine and building will be shut down until under the max occupancy

Yea, MR75 here. If Stankey wants me to quit - not happening. You took away my medical so you’re stuck with me for next 10 years until you surplus me, you miserable @$$+ole. I’ll show up, put required 8 in, clock out and s2@3w youse if you think I’ll do anything but the bare minimum.

This isn’t pre-covid routine. Haven’t worked 5 days in an office since ‘96 and sure as h311 didn’t work pre Covid in a freakin Fight Club situation for a seat at a 3x5 table with 3 other peeps

Dude who says crying will stop you simply don’t get it. This about such intolerable lack of office space I’m wondering how much the company will pay fines for safety and occupational hazard violations. Did you not hear OP: Alpharetta is lacking a good 33% of desk space and over 50% parking. How is that even legal?

Once everyone is working 5 days in office and that becomes normal again all the crying will stop. It will be BAU.

Given that we’re going from 3 days RTO to 5 I don’t see a major difference since Wednesday pretty much caught everybody working the 3 days.

You got it OP.
They already have them targeted. Happened in at least two locations that I know of ahead of the 3-Day RTO mandate.

here is NO thinking with this plan. Instead, they want you to just do it and leadership does not care. They just want but*s in seats.

hahaha -- they just want but*s on floors. there won't be enough seats

They took away dedicated space because we they shifted to flex workers now 5 days with no dedicated space. Makes no sense but then again neither did buying any of the failed companies.

Welcome to the land of CRAZY and what everyone else has been complaining about for over a year now.

There is NO thinking with this plan. Instead, they want you to just do it and leadership does not care. They just want but*s in seats. They don’t care how it happens or how inconvenienced you are.
