Just another troll trying to scare the gullible masses.
Ford has never had layoffs before the holidays.

Next March is a possibility for "belt tightening" though.

Here’s some reasoned speculation, not proof of anything.

I’m guessing that Ford personagement (isn’t that silly?) and the Class B stockholders didn’t expect Trump to win, nor the Republicans to take both the House and the Senate.

A proactive forward-thinking management would have plans for all permutations of wins and losses, but we’re talking about Ford.

I think they’ve been caught flat-footed (i.e. not in their toes) and are going to have to reconsider their move away from ICE vehicles. The $7500 EV tax credit is going away and the economic train wreck that has been set in motion will probably force Ford to abandon or significantly scale back all things EV.

On the bright side, moving production and engineering overseas may be frowned upon by the incoming administration.

"Sure would be nice if you trolls brought proof JUST once..... "

I 2nd this. It really lowers the value of these posts and the board as a whole when these are just empty content to grab attention.

Thanks for the apocolyptic post! It's been a while, since Labor Day I believe since we did any scary posts about layoffs.

Sure would be nice if you trolls brought proof JUST once.....

@eua+1vzPdOrT "NO! Retirements will occur after the new year"
Correct, but you can retire December 31 and take lump sum january 1 with new rates.

“ People will be retiring before Christmas break”

NO! Retirements will occur after the new year when the lump sum is better by about 5%. I ran the scenario and I can see the difference. I know one colleague planning to retire Feb-1.

People will be retiring before Christmas break. No layoffs needed.

I don't think there will be any massive layoffs this year. Not enough "juice" in the grapevine, and believe me when I say that layoff time brings a lot of "juice".

People are not talking much about anything work related, moral is down, all quiet, feels weird.

@ugo

People still have trust in JF? I assume he’s on his road show this week because he finally has an inkling that he is extremely unpopular within the company and no one believes in the company direction. I wouldn’t trust this guy to run a Dairy Queen.

Today, JF stated he doesn't want to cut his way to profitability or sustainability. A layoff this year would be a sudden and complete reversal of that insinuation, and I believe it would severely undermine any trust anyone might still have in him.
