2025 401k Match if Laid Off

Does anyone know if you hit 6% in 2025 on your 401k but get laid off after, will WF still match or will they sc--w us? It seems that if it was not your choice to leave they should still honor the commitment like restricted shares, but I have a feeling they won't.

My notice period started Oct 28. My last day was 12/26. They didn't give me my match on 12/31.

If 65 or older and displaced for any reason 6% 401k match will be paid. That is if you believe WF will follow their own policy.

Match for 65 and over if laid off during 2024

Only “eligible” for bonus if displaced, even if the 60 day notice goes past Feb payout. Up to manager.

In the grand scheme the 401 is not helping or hindering expenses if they matched. I think the Dec employment stip was more general since they want to match only on retained employees.

Read your 'Wells Fargo Agreement and Release'. Paragraph 1 clearly states you are considered an employee until the end of your notice period. Any activities/deposits/etc. for employees during that window will still apply to you. That means 401k match, profit sharing, bonus, etc.

You have to still be employed on 12/15/2025 for the match. If you get "displaced" before 12/15/2025 there is no match. If the bank was an ethical company it would still honor their commitment. They probably couldn't figure out how to pro-rate it.
