No. I was promoted and never exceeded . Then, a couple months later, in June laid off

i think up to SVP meets is fine. if you want to become a Director then in this current environment exceeds is the only way.

No … you do not need exceeds to get promoted. I’ve promoted people with fully meets

No. I got promotions without ever getting exceeds. It’s nearly impossible to get exceeds at BNY. Ratings have nothing to do with performance. They just don’t want to pay out the extra $10. I’ve had many staff who deserved exceeds buttthise several levels higher than my boss would never allow exceeds even though they never met any of us. They would send the review back and force rank a meets expectations.

The guidance that I received said that my promotion nominees must have been rated as exceeds this year or last year.
