Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Ho ! Ho ! Hope the daycare has an opening and the car will start !

Beginning on January 6, 2025, in alignment with other organizations across the company, ACE will transition to a more consistent “5 days per week at an AT&T work location” approach.

• While “working from home” is the exception not the norm, we understand that flexibility remains important and encourage you to communicate with your supervisor to enable this flexibility as needed. Simply put, these decisions are still made at the supervisor-employee level.

How flexible?

There was a guy that used to go to the movies one day a week. He is long gone, everyone knew but nothing was ever done.

“amazing that Walters couldn't look in the camera during his Town Hall and just tell us; instead we get some vague, nuanced memo”

Typical cowardice from the corporate st009es.

“how flexible?”
Let me tell you, better do your 8 in office no matter what. Want to leave the office early? Make up that time. Come in late to the office, you better stay late in office. Oh you worked after hours all night and all weekend? Too bad, that doesn’t count, better do your 5x8 or else. The flexibility is you can come in or leave, but you better do your 8 in office. That is what the supervisors are doing. They were told better not have anyone on that presence report.

5 days/week will be a key factor for future bonuses.

The emails are written in this vague way because the company can’t truly enforce a scheduled work day with salary employees.

The company could say “8 hours in office, 5 days per week”, but they aren’t. They are hoping to bluff their way to headcount reductions.

Go to the office do your work and go home as needed. They couldn’t/didn’t fire the people who didn’t do 3 days in office for the last year and a half.

Now if you are an hourly employee the company can say “in office 8 hours” and can tell you what hours or schedules you will work.

But let’s all agree that the company has problems firing employees who maliciously flaunt laws and rules. They know they won’t be able to terminate salary employees on attendance.

" Simply put, these decisions are still made at the supervisor-employee level."

This sure does leave a giant loophole for non-compliance.

  1. E> ---"My supervisor is "cool" --- he doesn't care where I work from.

That language is going to cause all kinds of issues. Especially where other orgs have taken a much harsher stance, which has led to employees feeling bitter and resentful of each other .

Flexibility to use your personal and vacation days as needed to cover your time out of the office.
