Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The toxic environment in my team is unbearable

It’s affecting my health in ways I didn’t expect, and it’s not just me. Good people are quitting left and right. And I know this is not just our problem. Customers are also ditching AT&T in droves, and it’s no surprise. People don’t respect this place anymore. The way employees are treated feels like harassment. It’s hard to keep going in these conditions, and it’s taking a toll on everyone.

Probably should look into professional help. Clearly not cut out for the corporate world.

“ My experience working at AT&T is that it’s not stressful.”

Everyone has different roles to play within the company. Practice some empathy. Your job may be a cake walk, but doesn’t mean the next person’s job is. Big difference between some of the roles I’ve had at this company. You’ve got some folks that are in operations working 24/7/365 and others that are just 9-5 Mon-Fri with huge differences in responsibilities. Network outage means different things to different people. To some that’s a scary moment with everyone swinging, can’t be any mistakes and they know they will be working until it’s resolved, to others that’s just some bad news they kind of heard about over the weekend. Two different companies indeed.

Believe me, quitting and finding a new job is so much better. Get out while you can, believe me, I can breathe and not worry so much anymore - I wish you nothing but the best.

It’s not going to get better, it’s going to be a lot worse starting Jan 6. Find another job or retire. If you dropped dead in the office, they would have another job posted in Dallas before the end of the week or wouldn’t backfill it at all. Find a better path.

You must be a VP if you think AT&T is stressful. My experience working at AT&T is that it’s not stressful. If you’re being honest I would start a hardcore diet and exercise plan. That really helps with stress and health. Good luck.

Sacrificing your health isn't worth it. This place is only going to get worse. Start doing what you need to do now to get yourself ready for an Irish goodbye. I announced my retirement 3 weeks ago and my replacement Internal job ad is already posted. This company does not care about you. It wants you gone.

Absolutely, a toxic work environment is definitely detrimental to your health overall. It starts with many sleepless nights rehashing the day's events and snowballs from there! The best thing to do would be to find a new job as quickly as possible. Take anything just to escape the asylum! You'll be glad you did!
