Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

LOB Core location exceptions

I was advised by HR to request an exception to stay remote in a non-hub location. Did anyone else realize this was even an option, I’m remote now and have been for nearly a decade. What is the point in making me relocate just to grant me another WFH exception due to my disabilities other than to create a hostile environment for me.

I got dropped in December due to Orange County, CA location. My manager in LA somehow got an exception for the time being. So yes execs are shielded. Nothing I could do about it.

I see that Shart has entered the chat...

lol@the down votes. These clowns don't like it when the plebes dare to question their actions.

Exec assistants are not executives. I think we all know that this person is remote and distant from HY because Shart is a notorious philanderer and his wife demands it. Funny how that is a perfectly legit 'business justification' for remote work, but no one else's is. 😐

Shart cannot lead because he's a liar and a hypocrite. No one respects that bag of garbage. I can't even listen to his stupid voice anymore, I just completely ignore him. It's the only way to stay sane until he leaves.

You can search Teamworks or Share0
Point for LOB Core Location Exception and you’ll find an excel template used for Consumer Lending as well as the approval matrix.

“ What is the point in making me relocate” the point is that it is easier to lose a few people that are critical than to lose a law suit that the are picking on any specific groups. In the long run (end of 2027) location strategy will be pretty firm. Don’t expect any exceptions to be here in January 2028

had a valid medical accommodation in a hub and was laid off and have no doubts it was because i had the accommodation. they also laid off a few other people on the team to make it look legal as i was the oldest on the team. they are farming out 40% of the US workforce to I&P and the older folks, the remotes, the medical accommodations are the first in line.
good luck to you but i'd not count on any sort of job security. not with this company or day and age.

Executives are exempt from RTO. If you are not an executive, you are not protected.

I wonder what exemption Shart's assistant has on the books with HR. Being remote in a different state from him and all.

The only exception you can request (initiate) is a medical accommodation through HR. Business/skill or market-specific exceptions are not being handed out just because someone had the gumption to ask. Don't get people's hopes up.

Well they are real and you can ask for one, be sure to use specific verbiage of LOB Exception for Core Location Strategy. They must be approved by the operating committee and your LOB executive. Sent my request to the bosses boss for further escalation up the chain. I know it will be denied but I can’t wait to hear the excuses and will be sure to add it to my open complaints with the EEOC and state agency.

Until they close all the offices in the US, then it will be "on no! We routinely review our staffing levels..." for the rest of us. Charlotte will be the last one to go, but it'll go. NC is already the biggest target for layoffs in the company.

They want to explore accommodations to get you in the office and they can’t do that if you are not near one. Only after exhausting those options would they consider giving you another remote exception. Even if they were to grant that, they still want you to come in for special events. Thus, you must live near an office.

The "point" is a charade that your request was considered appropriately prior to them denying it. Denial was the plan all along, but they have to make it look good otherwise it could result in legal issues. It will be denied. I know several people that have tried.

This is the rock solid proof that " location strategy" has absolutely nothing to do with locations or WF exiting buildings or anything else. It's a layoff plan and NOTHING more. The company can't say "you must go to building X" in 2022, and then in 2024 say that you're fired because you're in Building X...AND deny formal requests to help on your own dime to a facility that is allegedly "ok". The building is irrelevant, they just want to get rid of YOU.

Fun part is, if you just started showing up for work everyday in a hub for your LOB, they would fire you for not badging in to your "assigned location".

Get it now? Regardless of your location, you're fired 'for location'. 😐

just because they "advise" you to request it, doesn't mean you'll be approved.
