Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

New Jersey

Sure is nice having the benefit of 90 days notice before they can lay us off and 1 week guaranteed for every year of service.

Don’t want to give me 90 days notice? Ok! Now you owe me another 4 weeks pay. lol make sure it paid the very next check too, or you’re in violation of law.

Every time I read a post about Stanky cutting our already low severance just makes me laugh because I know he wants to take it, but doesn’t have the power.

Not signing any documents releasing my right to sue either. “ Severance pay cannot be contingent on the employee releasing any employment claims.”

Here’s more!

Notice: Employers must provide at least 90 days' notice to affected employees

Severance: Employers must pay one week of severance pay for each year of employment

Additional pay: If an employer fails to provide the required 90 days' notice, they must pay an additional four weeks of severance pay

When to pay: Severance must be paid in a lump sum on the first regularly scheduled payday after the employee's final day of employment

Who it applies to: The law applies to employers with at least 100 full-time employees who have been in business for at least three years

“ but at the end of the day you still live in New Jersey.“

Yes, and you can’t name a single other state in the country that has better rights for workers.

I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Too bad other states don’t have similar laws to protect employees.

“Well, to get all this in NJ, they have to let go over 50 people in a given 30 day period. What prevents them from staying at 49? This over 50 event only occurred twice in 2024.”

Tens of thousands of employees 49 at a time?

lol you are the lowest of the low IQ

“Force you to RTO out of NJ into NY or PA office”

Womp womp

New Jersey's Mini-WARN Act protects employees from mass layoffs, business closures, and relocations, including transfers to a new location.

Easy fix for the Stankey.

Force you to RTO out of NJ into NY or PA office, then let you go.

Or

Sell you all to Accenture.

Take that Stanky!

Your severance pay doesn’t even meet the minimum required by law and you want to reduce it while paying yourself millions in additional compensation?

You’re pathetic
