Connect week PTO penalty

Has anyone else been told that taking PTO on a single connect week day voids your time for connect week? We were told that connect week time will be a big portion of next years bonus and that if we take even a single day PTO during a connect week that week doesn’t count. It’s insane. I don’t schedule my PTO around Connect week, sometimes it just happens to land on that week. Such as when it works for our kids or other family members. Or god forbid I have a cold and don’t want to share it. Definitely not a family friendly company. They incentivize making decisions that aren’t healthy (coming to the office sick) and take away the gym allowance yet push their fit meals on us.

If the 40 days a year guy is true, that's 1.5 days per 2 weeks, that's 3 days every 4 weeks. Dang the bar is lower than I thought.

You need to attend 40 of your assigned connect week days a year to stay off “the list”. If it’s a holiday or PTO, those days DO count at non attendance. Making up days won’t help you either. Be strategic about time off, badge in at least 40 of your assigned days.

The TVs in the cafeteria had messages about staying home and working from home, if you are sick. I don’t think they are looking at a one time usage.

My manager usually misses at least one day a connect week. There have been a lot of times they have the whole week off one time so they come in all the days of the next connect week.

When I saw my manager not caring about the policy, I stopped worrying about it.

@p7+1weutmw3 Contact HR and directly ask if taking one PTO day during a dynamic week cancels out the whole week. It does. Only full weeks are counted towards the goal of 60% participation.

And no one can confirm who exactly is identifying “trends” that HR deems as insubordination avoiding in-office. So much unnecessary stress and they seem to enjoy inflicting it on all associates.

I don’t think this is true. I heard the rumor about missing one day in office during a connect week (not due to pto, just not being in office) giving you a zero for that week, but there was no indication that was true when it came to the year end pay cycle. If you have a pattern of missing lots of in-office days/weeks, you’ll know it because your manager will have to talk to you. You may then see that affect your bonus. I think the FAQs are accurate, that say it’s fine to take pto during connect weeks.

Yes, this is true. I spoke with Employee Relations because I had so many questions on it. They literally said in the same breath that PTO can be taken during connect weeks BUT if a “trend” is seen OR you don’t hit the 60% mark, big bonus penalties. I asked what about groups where now everyone has agreed they will try to schedule PTO outside of connect weeks when possible BUT my group only allows a small percentage of associates out the same day - so people will literally be forced to take PTO durning connect weeks and potentially be penalized for that?!?! There was no answer to that.

Most important fact here is: No one cares.

I have heard this rumor but have been told it's not true. Based on the FAQs that would go against the black and white expectations they are providing employees. If they choose to go to that kind of extreme I would be interested to see the backlash.

swiping your badge is the single greatest act you can perform for this company, anything that results in you not swiping your badge is indeed an act of defiance toward our queen Abigail and will result in your termination and your badge being given to someone who is happy and willing to swipe it
