Layoff at Bossier

Well I can tell you it WASN'T just admin and higher up. And while the numbers were low it hit really hard. I would love to know where the info is coming from about shutting this yard down. Not for any other reason than wanting to know my future for my family. It's bad to get laid off, it's worse to have someone say we wont be affected and then come in and start telling people to hit the door. Honesty......doesn't that mean anything anymore. You cant be upset if the company is upfront with you. But when they know you will be affected and they don't tell you, you have no way to prepare. No one really understands until your in that position of loosing your job. My heart goes out to all who have lost their job no matter what location they were at. The Bossier yard has a lot of close employees...so this has really hit home.

To 66843: off course, people who knew wouldn't tell you. Would they approach you and say "hey, I think you will be laid off soon" ? At that time, if you paid attention, their weird behavior would trigger you some alarm. I was laid off 2 weeks ago. Two weeks before my doomed day, one of my weird psycho enemies started to sing out loud, in her native language, at her cubicle (reminding me of the music band played the last song on Titanic). And her weird mate was wandering so often, in front of my cubicle aisle and my next aisle. Those weirdos really alarmed me. Now, I am really appreciated to those psychos. Without them, I wouldn't have time to be 'well' prepared for my departure.

I was laid off last year. And there were people who knew and didn't tell me. People that were close friends. Management won't tell you so you can continue to work until they say that's it. Not saying I would want to worry for weeks, but I'd like to prepare. But guess what....now that there are a lot of layoffs, that means it will be tougher to find a job. Yeah it's going to be hard to keep in GOOD SPIRITS now that people are gone when they were told they were safe.

Your right...it is awful. I was let go by bhi in 2009. It came out of nowhere. I had a wife at home and two baby girls. My boss had to drive me home because i was layed off at work with a company car. As we drove up the jerk says...wow you live in a gorgeous house. My thoughts....not for long now. My smiling wife meets me at the front door and sees the tears in my eyes. This was our first experience with the oil field. But you know what.....we made it....i found another job eventually. ....we kept the house.....and our family stayed together. I was so mad at my boss etc everyone who knew and didn't tell me. But if they had it would have only given me more weeks of worry. So try not to blame.....just love spending time with your family and increase your faith. It will ne different but in time it will be better

I don't see the Bossier yard shutting down. That facility is huge with all product lines. I could see Halliburton shutting it down once the buy out is complete since they have an equally complete and established yard in Bossier but I don't see a shut down coming this early in the game. Unfortunately we will all be on the possible chopping block once the buy out takes effect. We worry now about losing jobs and if we are lucky to make it through the first rounds, we will just be worrying again when Halliburton arrives.

Each lay off person will meet alone with your supervisor, HR person and a manager. The layoff news must be kept to the minimum by managers and HR. First it's related to confidential issue. Second it's to keep other remaining folks in good spirit. Employees will have a very hard time focus in business to make profit for shareholders and bonus for execs. That's why the company cannot be upfront to all during this bad business cycle.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know some folks at Bossier, good hard-working and family oriented folks. God bless.
