are you saying SEP royalties related to an LTE chipset in a $600 phone isn't worth 6x as much as that same chipset in a $100 phone? That sounds a bit too....logical. But as heard on the earnings call, that "smallest saleable" argument don't work 'round here!
That maneuver at IEEE shows that QC can only compete and dominate, if it corners the standard essential patents. Not quite a patent ambush, but it is close. It is pissing off the rest of the industry and IEEE community that try to promote new standards in good faith and compete on even ground. No big deal, right? Look at where Rambus is today, a social outcast. Only if Rambus knew to charge royalty based on the price of the PC, it wouldn’t care what other people think.
yeah, that IEEE patent committee nonsense is no big deal either. All is well.
Hopefully the licensing model is itself patented, so that when companies license the original standards essential patents, they infringe on the licensing model patent, and have to license the licensing model patent. Market cap will zoom right past AAPL.
