IT needs to get rid of the over head such as S. Gass IT Regioanl Manager - job not needed - P, Rica another that needs to retire and Jim Green - Why did they bring him back to houston? Come on, dead weight.
HR should get cut. Does anyone really know what HR does? Hell, they don't even know what they do. They're worthless. They have no impact on getting barrels out of the ground, but if you ask them they talk like they run the place.
They are laying off approximately 30% of its support workforce in what they have dubbed at "Project Alpha". It is being led by the Boston Consulting Group which is the same company that gutted Chevron Downstream. Chevron has also restructured its pay for anyone with a college degree in Engineering or other "targeted" fields. This sounds fair but the result is that the layoffs are targeting salaried, non-Engineering degree employees that have been with the company for 20+ years. Meanwhile Chevron continues to hire inexperienced college graduates through its Horizons program.
HR is finishing up an aggressive layoff of more that 100. IT and other services are under the microscope now. There is no "safe" area.
Deep cuts are in progress in Chevron "service" areas such as IT, HR, Business Services and Procurement.
The idiot that made the original post read a 2009 article that still shows up on the internet.
No one's been able to confirm any of this.
About 10 people in the Westchase office, few more in the Bellaire this week. More to come...
Where did you get this info? How reliable is it?
That's not true.
How about other layoff locations?
