Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

Guaranteed 40

So I was hired on and told during the slow weeks we had a guaranteed 40 hours. Of course this doesnt happen often, it might with the looks ahead. This is a condition I took the job on too. It has now been lowered to 30. Can they just do that? Of course its better than being let go, but not sure if this is right? Any feedback here helps

Likely they are pushing you out so they don't have to pay a severance. I'm holding on to the last minute myself.

Do you have anything in writing? Also, bear in mind that all employment is at will unless you've signed a contract that specifically outlines the duration of engagement and guarantees hours to be worked within that duration. I've seen contracts like that but not at BHI. I will go on a limb here and assume that you did not have such a contract, therefore you either take what's offered (in this case 30 hours) or you are free to exit the relationship and pursue engagement with other parties. My two cents...
