sounds like ineffective communication from the board and Executives to the mid con office or they are just good old fashioned management (IE holding their cards till they got the layoff preparations complete.
Some people got offers to go to Ft Worth, but I've only heard of 1 who's going who isn't management. Telling an office that there is no immediate threat then closing the office a couple of weeks later is shady. Everyone showed up to work on Tuesday, an email was sent to go to a specific room, and everyone was locked out of their computers. People who were laid off have to specifically request documents from IT if they want a copy. The severance was weak, the relocation package was pretty great, but how many people can just move? And of those people, how many would be willing to move for a company that makes a point of saying everything is fine only to immediately shut down the entire office?
