I have an opportunity with Sears and,am wondering what everyone's thoughts are? I'm currently working for a retailer that is going belly up at a fast pace, and being bought out by a competitor. I am in middle management and the Sears position would be similar.

sears doesn't appreciate the hard working people they have. I work for sears and I hate it the need of money is what keeps me working there for now. I can assure you that sears is the worst place to work at . they give no raises and now they took vacation hours away for par time positions. it just sucks !! if anybody knows about a good place to work can you post it please?
Don't do it...the pressure will drive you mad. In my location, 8 managers have left including myself over the last 12 months and the new ones cry themselves to sleep from what I have been told by some lol.
I work at the Kmart end of the company and they are flexible which is a good thing if you're a parent with elementary age children the down fall to that is you wont make much over federal minium wage I've been with the company about 4 1/2 years they have been good to me in this time but like everyone else has said you wont grow with the company
Im a single parent raising a pre teen
I would not if you don't want to have to lie everyday you work. I left after 27 years because I couldn't tell one more customer you will your merchandise , when I knew Sears was not paying bills. It's hard to leave a company that was you only job, but I finally realized that Eddie Lambers Sears is not my Sears. If all you care about is a number, and not how to grow a business , then go work for the company, but don't complain when you are told with out notice your store is closing. Sorry you not say yes join, but no one should have to move from one company failing to another that is already failed. Also ask your self one more question when was the last time you bought something from Sears, for me it was 3 years ago, and only because it was raining.
Good luck if you take the job. Sears is going belly up as well. Been with sears a long time. Not pretty.
Hard to say what to do, in my opinion we have two to five years before we fold, I think younshould consider that. If the position is rewarding and if you will grow I would take the risk. If not, wait until something with more future prospects comes up. Good luck.
