Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

Smart Move, Walmart

Walmart made a very smart move by proposing to raise employee wages. But they haven't gone enough. Learn from Costco and maybe you'll get more loyal, effective, and happy workers.

This is not an endorsement of any union, but this does let you know that workers can organize. The bottom line is that it's workers (along with communities) who can make Walmart something much better......http://www.labornotes.org/2014/11/walmart-workers-ramp-protests-black-friday

@Anonymous69226, of course it's not fine now. And it won't be without a struggle. Just know that there are lots of people working behind the scenes. What this news shows is that Walmart can move if pressured. The struggle for justice is not easy nor is it quick. And it won't come from merely asking a big union to come in (organizers may be dedicated, but higher ups may be lazy and/or corrupt). The first step is in educating fellow workers and in establishing a power analysis (your allies and opponents inside and outside the company)............. http://www.acluohio.org/assets/publications/NASWPowerAnalysisHandout.pdf...........But that's also not easy, because companies like Walmart are willing to break the law and fire people who they think are organizing workers. You can email me anonymously if you want to (there are several anonymous email programs on the Internet).

So Camden, you think that we will be fine now? What do you think Wal Mart should do for us workers. Everyone hates it here, even people in management, but they do not have better options. I see that you are a social activist, please enlighten us with your vision of how this broken and exploitative system we have at Wal Mart should be changed.
