Yep - I was laid off on Wednesday and was a contractor in Production Enhancement. Our floor is being taken over by the integration team and we had to be out by 31st of March.
HAL's hiring to fill spots on the integration team, contract for 8 months. Frankly I don't have the stomach for it.
A lot of buyers got let go Thur and Friday. Sadly, this is just the beginning.
Lesson from all this: Loyalty to yourself and your family first. Companies don't care about you at the end of the day. When a door opens, leave your present company. I hate it when I hear people laboring their hearts out for a company for 10+ years. They think that in doing so, the company will remember their loyalty and sacrifices when times like this rear its ugly head.
My sympathies go out to those who remain. Focus on your work and remain productive.

They are laying off HAL employees left and right! and hiring an army of consultants for the merger! What a load of BS!
Northbelt laid off yesterday and today in both Sperry and Wireline PSLs. As far as I can tell it looks like mostly Mfg and Procurement people.
Which PSLs are hit this time??? Is it campus-wide at NB?
Sorry you left the "HAL family". I remember my boss said "HAL is like a family, but we are also running a business and the business has to be profitable... " How ridiculous that is !
