Soon Baker will be but a distant memory. That's sad. It's also the anniversary of Selena's death and just like her, Baker will be but a memory.

The movie version is called BIG RED, But a man like true Blue willing to work for a way of life will make it no matter who it is he works for, God will get us through this and things will be good again, in or out of the oilfield life go's on. next time put your money away, you can work for it when your young or you will work for when your old. times like this 401 is real nice for a backup, been in it from the beginning, still have 13 years to go , and I have never blew my money even for the toys I could have bought, may not seem like much of a life but in 13 years I'll be at home playing with my new Toys. The kids can have the rest, that's just Life.

Taking his job? You do know how acquisitions work, right? The acquired company ALWAYS gets the short end of the stick. Don't believe me? Stick around, when Baker gets acquired, the elite blue would gradually be sent packing. It's nothing personal, it's business. Oh and, I do have a job thank you very much, in the health field and WE are not feeling downturn.

20 years Baker Blue

My husband wasn't a dead weight, he gave 5 years of his life to Baker Hughes. Unfortunately, his boss had to make the decision to let go of some employees due to budget cuts. The most insulting part was that nepotism was at work and some real dead weights, were kept on because of that fact. Anyway, I wish you nothing but the best.

All i can say is i am 20 years baker blue and will always be blue. I have seen the good times and bad times. It is unfortunate that people have been laid off in the past. But from what i seen in my years it's usually the dead weight that has to go (Anonymous84085). The only reason of this massive layoff is due to merger and now for the first time we are having to let go some great talent. If it was oil prices it wouldn't be so bad. I remember 12 dollars per bbl and to be honest we never slowed down. I lived offshore.

Anonymous84122 you are so correct. We are best in class. thats why over the years there has been many attempts to buy us. when you have the best product everyone wants it.. i am still employed at the moment and also last man standing in my dept out of dozens..

Even though my career may be coming to a end, it's not the end of the world. A man that want's to work will always work. Even with the down turn we have at the moment i am still getting job offers. Guess I'm just lucky. But as i said i am True Baker Blue! I will ride it out to the end...

I have much to be thankful for. I have gained so much with my career and i have no reason to complain. For 20 solid years i never missed a pay check and put food on the table and a roof over my family's head. To be honest that's all i aimed to do in life. Thanks to Baker i have done this. I am very said to see this happen. But it is what it is.

Long live Sand Control

Well for all u to know baker hughes employees are a elite group of men and deserve respect all I can say is we layer off your husband in 2009 due to him just simply not good enough or him messing up at work so instead of sitting on here and botching maybe go find a job because we are taking his job once again p's we are coming for you and depending on your age I guess u may be looking for a new man

Awwww, too bad. My husband got the humiliation by being laid off by Baker, in 2009. He got hired by Halliburton shortly after and would love to deliver a can of "whoop-ass" to any Baker employees who survive and get acquired by Halliburton. We are waiting for you, Baker!

Quote From Red/Blue......

What are the possible outcomes of the Baker Hughes stockholder vote and Halliburton stockholder vote?

If both companies’ stockholders approve their respective proposals, we expect that the deal will close in the second half of 2015. When the deal closes, Baker Hughes will cease to be a publicly held corporation and will be combined with Halliburton.

If Baker Hughes stockholders fail to adopt the merger agreement, either party is permitted to terminate the merger agreement and in the event of such termination, under specified circumstances, Baker Hughes may be required to pay up to $40 million of Halliburton’s expenses or may be required to pay a termination fee of $1.0 billion to Halliburton.

If Halliburton stockholders fail to approve the issuance of shares of Halliburton common stock as contemplated by the merger agreement, either party is permitted to terminate the merger agreement and in the event of such termination, Halliburton is required to pay a termination fee of $1.5 billion to Baker Hughes.
