Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Made your targeted budget? Fell short? It may not matter.

With FY16 beginning the process of assigning FHEG stores their budgets is in high gear. A curious phenomenon has been observed this year, at least for my area. From those I've spoken with, whether or not you hit the targeted sales set out in FY15, you're losing labor dollars, and not insignificant values either. If you're a large store, this means you may have to double up on tasks, if you're a small store, well, the logical conclusion is bleak. FHEG store managers, have you observed something similar from your peers, both those who achieved their goals, and those who didn't? It is -absolutely- true that the RMs I'm familiar with are doing their best to juggle total values to cover shortfalls (this includes labor dollars going from one store to another) but I suspect it's a bit more than that. Oh wait, Hi Edelman. What? We're in better shape than ever? Would you like to watch the registers for those stores with one employee while that employee goes to use the washroom? No? Well, thanks anyways! Maybe CNS can do it?

In the spirit of the new Fiscal Year, sure enough... the IT department at FHEG has changed, and we gain a NEW VP of IT, Merchandising and Financial Systems. And where does TT come from? Why, OfficeMax of course. Now, we've lost CD and TD who wished to 'pursue other opportunities' so we're a VP down. To 87443, I must say I agree with you completely. And it is disheartening, especially since in the field we're facing major reductions which makes this, as 87350 has said, a 'real morale killer.'

So do we take this as an attempt to offset future expected losses, a means of capital reallocation for as of yet undefined projects, or ?

I can't believe the number of VPs in IT. Talk about bloat.

Just got my budget yesterday and see the same thing, Met our sales budget but budgeted declines in labor for next year. We were already shorthanded from the previous reductions last year. I certainly hope we don't see any new announcements for new directors and VP's at the home office - its a real morale killer.
