Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Taking hits in the Northeast in wireline.

Worked for Weatherford for 11.5 years as a General Field Engineer in wireline. They told me I would be paid for nine weeks salary, only got paid for 8. Laid off on March 11, insurance stayed in effect until the end of the month. The worst about all of it, the upper management in the Northeast a positioning people they want in positions to keep them from getting laid off. Especially ones that are here on Weatherford sponsored work visas, that are here from Venazaula. I was laid off being able to run OH, CH, and Pump down plug and perf wireline. RSO and explosive coordinator at my district. They kept someone there that had only been working 4 MONTHS. That's tough to chew on.

I hear you brother, I was in wireline as well and laid off the around the same time you were with having many years with the company. They kept on many people with less seniority and experience than me but hey it's the WFT way. Keep your chin up with your experience you find something and this will be a distant memory soon enough and we will be both the better for it.

Our motor shop looked like a used car lot with all the trucks getting turned in. Went from 12 jobs to 4 or 5 running. Everyone walking around with a knot in your stomach wondering if today is the day. They say we will be ok but who knows.

This is the pattern all facilities are experiencing. They are ridding the experience for inexperience. The concept is baffling to say the least. Especially when we all know how the training of new employees is conducted. Or lack there of. Frightening.

I feel for you. This is typical Weatherford, I had a similar layoff with them. They could care less if your doing a good job and looking out for the company. Bring in the new hire with little experience because your are making to much money, and keep the cronies that have their head stuck up the back side of their boss, don't care if the work is done right, and always tries to place the blame on someone else.

Chin up my friend. World is full of back stabbers and disloyal people just taking care of themselves and doing whatever they can to save their asses. I was a victim myself of one of those assholes.I was permanent full time employee, he was temporary then he ended up being hired and me being laid off, how about that? Tough to chew on ehhh.. Hope this make you feel better hehe. Brown nosers really suck..
