Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

referring to "I DARE YOU" (posted below)

I find this intriguing. There have been several posts on here concerning the future of some facilities here in the US. HUNDREDS of people look at these posts and only a handful reply to them. The replies are typically as such: "shut up you don't know what your talking about", "This is BS", "we are under enough stress why are you saying these things", "your an asshole or troll", "where is your proof?", "who told you this?" or "how do you know?". What is fascinating is that everyone wants answers but no one wants to ask the right person the right questions. We all have defense mechanisms when it comes to protecting our jobs, egos, families and lively hood. We tend, as humans, to do several things: Be in Denial, Repression, and try to Rationalize what is going on around us, instead of confronting the issue at hand. We all know that in this industry ANYTHING CAN AND WILL HAPPEN. There are HUNDREDS of views of this post alone and yet not a single soul has stated they are willing to put forth an attempt to ascertain an answer from their Manager. So I say, if someone else states the closure of a particular facility is emanate, don't get all hostile and ask how they know and all of the other blah blah blah, simply do as this original post suggests ---- GO ASK THAT QUESTION -- YES-- THE SIMPLE ONE --- "What is the future of THIS facility"!! Then you will not have to rely on others "Opinion", you will have conquered your fear and that will be that.

and...the answer to your question will not be a truthful one. I have to laugh at friends that have gone to their supervisors to ask if they will have a job in the future. Really? They expected their managers to tell them they would be out of a job in a month? That there would be no more work? No, that doesn't happen. It's all kept very quiet. It keeps a disgruntled employee from damaging equipment and sabotaging a job or program. That's why you are walked out of the door and off the facility.

It's not difficult to ascertain what is happening to your job. Look at the price of gas at the pump. Read the news about all the excess oil in storage. Unless something catastrophic happens to change things, you won't have a job. This bust is supposed to be worse then the one in 1985 and supposed to last longer too. I've heard young men tell me their jobs aren't in danger because they do "blah, blah, blah"..and to that I say "everybody's job is in danager..no exceptions.
