Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

For the chemical folks

halliburton has announced that they're selling drilling. But what about production chemicals? I know that halli bought multi chem. which is our arch nemesis in the chemical game. Does anyone know if it will be divested or kept?

Meaning of binned: The act of being terminated from one's employment, from most large organizations, where they don't respect people when they are let go. They're handed a package, and often escorted out the door. Tossed out with the trash, so to speak. As in the UK, the term binned means to throw in the trash.

It's a smoke and mirrors business. Somebody in a previous post stated it is a small business. Assume sales are somewhere between 50 and 100 million USD. With the waste of personnel and outdated plant even if raw materials are cheap, what can the profits be compared to HAL's billions?

I bet they keep the polymers group for diversification. I bet Baker is loving the money that polymers is making right now considering the rest of the company (oilfield side) is in the crapper...

What about Polymers? Can't see them staying. HAL will most likely not want to be in the business of manufacturing / reselling waxes for consumer and industrial applications which have no relation to energy services. That's something a company like Clariant should be doing. Also the Germans will have no problem disposing the waste that remains in that business.

They'll keep it and merge it in to Petrolite. Just my opinion.
