Okay Ampscot layoffs 114 Fabrication employees to take the work to Katy Texas. What I don't understand is weatherford would sooner double the cost of transportation to a site aka( assembled gear-train on one truck to customer and then send from Katy the structure to site by another company(Double the load and double the price) Next question is why we need 10 Managers for 1 shop .Hmm (circle the wagons). Employees get laid-off but never a Manager. Continuos improvement hasn't improved anything but yet he takes a girl who has ridicuously failed in every dept. including shipping receiving and then Procurement and still shes screws up and they keep her. Goes to show that the management has their head up their ASS. And why do we need 8 leadhands when you ask a question they send you to a person that has skill because they don't have the skills reguired.

No fella you got me all wrong.Im a workin man.I cant afford the rims for a denali and i dont like wings.(chicken keeps peckin at my face every time i try to take a bite)My hands are busted and scarred just like yours.I just dont see the point in driving myself to a stroke or heart attack for something at the end of the day really has no affect on my life.I still get to eat and pay my bills so to be honest i dont care who is doing what.Dont get me wrong i have had days where i just felt like saying screw it but again what for?End result your pissed off and bitter and nothing has changed.Im not here defending weatherford im just saying really whats the use in being pissed off all the time?

Sounds like the positive attitude guy still works there and hey, good on him. But perhaps he is a part of the Wednesday wing night crew or maybe the Denali club. Either way the situation is long past being positive. I have a feeling that the missing gantry is used to hoist a big ego into a lifted truck, but what would I know. I was just a person shuffled from shift to shift trying to pay my bills while someone else benefitted from it. What I do know is there are a lot of rumors flying around these days, some I'm sure are hatred and some are facts that have surfaced. One of my favorites is there has been some "one on one" team building nights that may have been conflicts of interest as well as hard on the home relationships funny what a job title will do to a person. All I know is its terrible what a job or money will do to a person and the extent people will go to so they get kept on the roster while others are let go like disposable diapers.

We all know Ampscot is struggling right now.Every company in Alberta is bearing the brunt of this downturn.From huge companies right down to the mom n pop shops.Even the snack guy is feeling the hit.All of us.But, I have an idea.Call me crazy but would it not be better for us to work together to make things better?If all you are looking for are negative things,then that is all your going to find.Nothing is ever going to get better.Negativity breeds like a cold.It travels through a workplace like wildfire.Before you know it everyone is pissed off for really no good reason when you stop and think about it.If you have any concerns let them be known.If you have any ideas how to improve things,let it be known.Lets work together to make things better.We have more than enough skilled guys and ladies here to make a difference.Lets make this difference a positive one.Lets do it together.I challenge all of us,myself included,to do at least one positive thing every day.It can be anything.Tell a coworker he is doing a good job.Give a guy a hand if he looks like he needs it.As with negativity,positivity can catch on as well.And it feels better.Before long you will see a difference in yourself as well as everyone around you.

Well where to begin, the once almighty Ampscot "the crème of the crop" facility of fabrication will soon to be a memory, but hey at least my name won't be at the top of the food chain that lead a blind eye through the smoking mirrors and all the dirt that was swept under the rug.. With my experiences of being once a proud employee of Ampscot then just to a number with Weatherford .. Once a "family" work environment turned to backstabbing photo taking tattling but hey Karmas a bitch eh Shaun O .. Really i guess just jealous that i never took interest in paint heard the incentive program from General was great.. but hey shhhh nobodies needs to know that my bad .. But good thing this is Anonymous or could be hung by means of service Gantry Crane what was that asset number again ????

Because transportation costs can be made zero when there is low or next to no orders. Keeping 114 people when theres low order can't be stopped. Also, wages are a lot lower in texas than alberta even at the crappy exchange rate. Cold hard balance sheet numbers and nothing else.

Guys I hear you, you must be from Ontario or relative to fit in today’s Ampscot. I’m so glad that I have left. Continues improvement guy gets big $$$, you do not want to know how much L…. from Brazil was paid. But they all are improving their standard of living. All is about their personal benefits, is the dozer operator still running the show over there?

Ampscot has been totally messed up by incompetent managers.From top to bottom.Manufacturing managers that have no experience or clue about whats going on.How do you make your H.R rep your production manager when they have no related experience?Did they really expect anything good to come of this?Hiring friends without even posting jobs.Whats worse ,the guy they hired brought his son with him.Weatherford knows its a conflict to have a guy working for his father so they put him in another department although we all know who his boss is.This shows just how much weatherford management looks after their buddies.We have thieves getting promoted,while other guys get shitcanned for the same thing.This guy was in with them from the beginning .He threw them all under the bus know doubt to save his own ass.End result...Promotion for him.So sad.Continuos improvement is a joke.Hire a kid with absolutely no manufacturing knowledge to improve things.Again,this is rediculous.Would you hire a plumber to fix your roof?I dont think so.I had a good laugh at the foam cutout line on a prevoius post.So true.Fail at every task you get.Promotion...And dont even get me started on his dumbass helper.Slap in the face to employees who actually know something.Wouldnt know how to turn a machine on so how can you both tell anyone how to do it better or safer?Bottom line is wetherford management,you know nothing about what we do out on the floor.Without us you are done.Without you,we can still make parts all day long.Somewhere along the line the people who really keep weatherford running need to be recognized,not swept out the door with a payout that should embarass a company like weatherford.Any way i gotta go do some work on my car.Any one know where i can borrow a gantry crane?Huh mr. service manager? Sad thing is you can easily find this style of management at other branch plants its like groundhog day! Non oil industry experienced managers and safety officers who have degrees in patronization then there's their family and friends and the ass lickers who I am sure would take a bullet for the boss! Me I enjoy coming to work its like being in a TV soap all day long you could not make up half of the shit that goes on, Watching grown men falling over their feet to please the boss is hilarious but my favourite pastime is witnessing the blame game which usually results in an orange hat being blamed for something he never done and will never be made aware he's been blamed for something he's not done. Rather than hate these people revel in their incompetence and enjoy the soap.

what happened to ampscot?a once mighty company brought to its knees by bad management.H.R lady made manufacturing manager with no related experience,Hiring her husbands friends for positons without posting them.Theives getting promoted etc.Continuos improvement(or mr. f***in dressup and his foamcutouts)along with his incompetent helper have no idea what they are doing.We have guys with more than 20 years in this plant and these mutts are in charge of making things better for them?Sad.whats worse is management thinks this guy is great.Find me one guy whos job he has made better.No one i have spoken with seems to have anything positive to say.But some day he will probably run whole shop if we dont shut down.Weatherford rewards incompetence and punishes skill.i could go on and on,but anyone who is still there knows i speak the truth.i dont even want to mention safety dick because i have a small aneurism every time i see the arrogant bastard.

The best thing that ever happened to me was being laid off from Ampscott!! Management is a joke. What does an HR manager know about running a shop? Really? I got the EJ reference right away lol. Soooo happy to be gone from that life sucking hellhole!!

I totally agree with not understanding why the gear boxes are made in Canada and the structures down south. Makes zero sense, it may be just a process until all is made in Katy. And by the way Miss E. J. (Initials) haha, she isn't even worth talking about, I almost got in big trouble because she screwed me with stupidity numerous times. I'm more than surprised she's still there. :/

Hang in there buddy, if you look at this board you'll see that management absolutely does not care about quality of people, there is a lot of protectionism, family/friends being protected, shady stuff. Keep your chin up and move on. I left in February, still looking for a job but I can tell you that I am glad I am done with the monkeys that were managing my site.
