It's pretty easy to becom number two where you have to government in your shorts. Pretty easy to get ahead when times are great. Pretty easy to get ahead financially when you ignore safety...at least for awhile. Sure hope HAL embraces the culture that BHI has built. From what I gather HAL doesn't have access to the customers that BHI does not do they have the safety culture to get those customers. That is what worries me.
Google this: corpwatch halliburton
See www.halliburtonwatch.org, its about all the bad stuff Halliburton has done
Baker caused Bryon Jackson to roll over in his grave. They purchased a $5B dollar company and only saw an increase in their revenue for their first quarter after the merger, the downhill run (fall) started after that. HAL took advantage of the fall in order to wipe Baker/BJ out. There is no need for number three nipping at their heels when they can just kick them into the ditch. This isn't a merger/buy-out, it is a burial of the enemy. If you are BJ or BHI take your last breath slowly and make it last.
And HAL's ability to stand in judgment of other people is beyond repute, especially after themselves pleading guilty to destroying their own cement samples following macondo??
I still work at HAL. 72064--are you slamming HAL for getting g rid of non-performing employees? Believe it or not, HAL is not some Socialist Government that rewards piss poor performers. Based on your post, it sounds like you may fit in that group. Perform or make way for someone that will.
Halliburton and Baker Hughes both have 11 letters in their names and both have headquarters in the U.S. Coincidence?
When Halliburton buys out a company, the bought company has to lay off as many people so that Halliburton can then hire the people they want at their own pay scale
the unlucky will have to sit through all the integration bullshit lies they are going to tell you to keep you happy and bit by bit they will destroy your workplace and any any sense of belonging or family you may have with baker or your fellow employees.
don't think what halliburton get they are going to give that to baker employees. aint going to happen in an era of cutting costs and merging to get better efficiencies. think about your worst nightmare with Baker and then multiply it by 100 and you will get an idea of whats coming. enjoy the ride suckers
Halliburton HSA contribution for you is $1200 for family, while Baker gives us $1000. Halliburton 401(K) gives you maximum 9% free (5% plus 4% basic contribution). Baker Hughes 401(k) gives you 7% to 10% free depending on your ages (5% basic contribution plus 2-5% depending on your age). Baker Hughes also gives us cash-balance pension, 2-4% depending on age. So Halliburton is better on HSA free contribution while Baker is better on 401(k)+Pension. Health insurance is a wash. Employee stock purchase plan is also similar with 15% discount.
Channel 2 of Houston did investigation on Halliburton layoffs. Go to www.click2houston.com then under search write Halliburton layoffs.
Thread originator: could you do some research and share results? From what I learned, BHI is historically more humane HR (layoff) wise. HAL is capitalistic and value driven. HAL will pull the trigger on non-value or low-value adding headcount at any time. My takes: (1) Keep Thy Marketable Skills Up. (2) You are only as good as what you produced the last 2 weeks. (3) Next 2 weeks is a new game, WIN EVERY PAYCHECK!!!
Most items are comparable. BHI has pension, lower insurance premiums, higher vanpool subsidy, HAL not. HAL pays a bit more and better ESSP. On a related subject, HAL is more cost conscious and more efficient than BHI in most workflows (e.g. HR, IT).
Pay decent but they'll get they're moneys worth out of you
