A Strike Against Student Debt

Interesting article in the NYTimes about a group refusing to pay back student loan debt--The Corinthian 15. How long until UoP students balk at paying back the debt associated with a worthless degree, and then how will the government respond?

I don't think they will have a choice, the government will side with the corporations--even if it means siding with schools the HELP committee and others would like shuttered.

What it may do is shine more light on the school and shrink enrollment further. Of course, it could induce the leadership of the school to change the model--but that is unlikely!

Apparently you idiots don't get that free handouts from the government end as soon as a large chunk of students can't pay their bills. Because of the large chunk of debt, they are even less likely to pay and regardless of the gestapo tactics the government uses, the money simply isn't there. The taxpayers are already getting angry about the waste and yet the attitude of blaming students is all too commonplace. Stupid. It is your own damn greed and corrupt business model that brought you to the chopping block.

Caveat Emptor you fools.

Anyone dumb enough to enroll in a diploma mill deserves to pay every penny back.

Enjoy your job as third shift lead busser at Denny's

Any moron who enrolls in either of three schools deserves to pay back their mountain of debt if only to highlight their stupidity at attending a diploma mill.

Yes, the justice system is largely rigged against workers, students, and te working class. Judge John D. Bates, for example, will likely throw out all the "gainful employment" regulations that came out in the second round. And Judge Sarah Evans Barker is business friendly, so she will probably toss out the ITT Tech/CFPB case, even with the mountain of evidence against ESI. Some judges, however, can move the other way if they have to save the entire enterprise. If Bridegpoint goes to court in California, it could be very interesting. Regarding University of Phoenix, it could be considerable time before the "Strike Debt" movement gets to University of Phoenix, and by then, it's hard to know what could happen.
