Hello. I was lurking around the Baker Career website and I found job postings. Maybe I am missing something but considering that the company is going to be merged with Halliburton and there are a lot of layoffs going around, aren't the job postings redundant?

At one point as early as this past February they were saying they had a 'hiring freeze'. Things may have changed. Best Wishes
My supposition; probably quite a few are to support ongoing contracts where attrition is still taking place aside from layoffs... I guess they have to keep the business viable, and besides positions filled would simply migrate with the business unit if it was divested. I agree once the 'consolidation' takes place you'd expect further reduction but right now probably no other option than to run as 'normal' as possible under the circumstances. What is intriguing to me is whether any of those being laid off came into consideration for the positions posted and that we will off course never know. No doubt there are many reasons why certain individuals were 'let go' but it would be very short-sighted to overlook some of the guys, if they could fill one of these positions, what a waste of experience in so many cases...
