Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

RUMOURS

1) GE Oil and Gas buying out Baker Hughes completions.

2) Weatherford buying out PP.

3) Halli is selling bits, mwd/lwd/dd BUT they're keeping their personnel to run Baker's tools. So don't get so happy ds. You're not staying.

Confirm - Yes/ No

PP might be getting sold off, but probably not to Weatherford. Weatherford doesn't have any money right now.

Rumor is that GE is buying Sperry and HAL bits

Maybe HAL will try to retain some of their top rated Sperry hands somehow, while keeping some of Baker INTEQ's top rated hands as well. This way they can say they have personnel with the experience to run Baker's tools without any training, AND they also managed to keep Sperry's best hands. Who knows.

That is a slightly different scenario, if we are talking about Sperry vs BJ. HAL is selling Sperry to someone else who is not known or made public yet at this point, while Baker acquired BJ. Baker then had the option of deciding what to do with BJ personnel, while HAL will no longer have Sperry tools or personnel to worry about once that product service line is sold. Can HAL just sell the tools by themselves to someone else and include the manuals on how to run the tools, and then just say figure it out yourself ? Or is the buyer going to also want atleast some personnel that can run the tools from day 1 ? Also, is HAL going to be able to run AutoTrak rotary steerable jobs with mwd's and dd's that have never used it before, while NOT ruining a customer's well ? I don't know myself. These are just questions I am curious to find out about just like anyone else.

But then using that logic. When we bought bj we should have sent home our support staff and techs instead of theirs. Somehow I just don't see halli letting their own ppl go and giving us the green light after they bought us. Just think if we had bought them. Every last one of them was gone ask

If HAL sells Sperry, doesn't that mean that the buyer also takes the personnel along with the tools ? Then the buyer would then decide what to do with the personnel.

Plus, although Baker's tools are not rocket science, I don't see the benefit in removing the hands that are already trained to run those tools and replacing with hands that will need to be trained up. ( Particularly for MWD more so than DD, but even with Baker's rotary steerable tools, it requires some training as a DD)
