I had been with Baker for quite a while and was one of the Q1 7000. I think that I was treated fairly by my boss and was given a decent severance package. Since I've been gone, HR has responded to my questions and emails. The Benefits Center has been very helpful as well. I also have maintained contact with some of my old work folks. I'd been layed off from a company before Baker and have to say that this time around is waaaaaay better than what happened at the other company.

A "few" years ago, Baker was a fun place to work. Not anymore in any way, shape or form. Being laid off is one thing, but treating the employee like a prisoner during the layoff is totally humiliating and uncalled for. It is quite obvious that many responders to this post have not had "the treatment".

You owe the company a days labor. The company owes you a days pay. That is all. The company is not here to cuddle you when you're scared, wipe your...nose, keeping paying you when they don't have work for you, or raise you like a child. It's business. Grow up. Quit whining. Move forward with your life. You've heard that saying "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone"? You cry alone cause nobody wants to be around a crybaby.

Not sure what division you worked in, but I hear Saudi Arabia are hiring across all divisions.

Did you get it in writing that you would be taken care for your hard work and loyalty to Baker? You are a fool.

This board reminds me of the saying, "You can always tell who was skinny dipping when the tide goes out."
