I have been given heads up that I will be officially layed off in the May 1st announcement, after more than 20 years service.
Do I need a lawyer to negotiate severance pay on my terms, or simply accept what is offered.

1 RPS laid off in MEAP 2 weeks ago
Are you paid out of the UAE, if so it says 21 days pay for each of the first five years, after that it is 30 days pay for each year after that. The Catch is that they changed to the UAE just five years ago so if you question them they will only go for the 21 days for each year up to 5 years, if you are a U.S. Citizen then they more than likely offered you 20 weeks instead of the 26 weeks they give the U.S. Employees. Best take the money and run. Also be prepared to take your retirement all at one time, because Halliburton can come in and take it all.
In the US, if you are over 45 you have 21 days to review the severance package. I suggest you do that in lieu of signing on the spot. I'm no lawyer though.
How many other RPS have been layed off in EARC? You are the first I hear of in all company.
Negotiate...no harm done. You are already on the scrapheap.
Negotiate?! Hah! You don't negotiate. The negotiations ended with the takeover. Good luck in your future endeavors.
Your job, your future.
What's the May 1st announcement all about?
No negotiation !!!!! you get statutary or "enhanced package" sign a severance deal.
