I left EDMC and got a pay increase. Not a large one, but still. Also I have a 401k match and my health ins. Premium is less. Also, I am not so stressed that I can't enjoy life. And (drum roll...,) I don't work with psychopaths! Imagine it! My advice- don't wait. Leave before the doors close ( which is soon for almost all EDMC campuses).

I previously warned EDMC employees to be prepared for a payout when you take your next gig. Don't be living paycheck to paycheck . Word

I just got a 2 1/2 month life jacket from CCI when it sank. you should choose option C then hold your breath when the doors close shut for the last time.

20 year prof - Sorry you are stuck there, I know you care but your hopes and dreams of Ai turning around are about as good as winning the lottery. Gen Z's will be a smaller group and smarter consumer of education, but if that were to be true, they will most likely look at the numerous negative student experience of the group before them and opt out of all For-Profit schools based on facts like lowest job outlook after graduation and highest default rates. EDMC defaulted on a Billion dollar loan, did you forget they got taken over by their creditors? Do you really think they are going to thin down the schools then install knowledgeable educators whose primary interests is students over profits? Keep dreaming, when was the last time a creditor did anything for you that was for your benefit if it cut into their profits? From one former employee to another, get out now while you can. The original founders literally sold out years ago, there is on one at the top who cares about anything except how much they can siphon off the profits until it finally collapses. Let me put it another way, the Captain and First Mate sold the ship to pirates years ago, The crew has been keeping the boat afloat but its headed straight for the rocky cliffs. Meanwhile you are swabbing the deck singing a song how some day a new Captain will save the crew when the pirates come to their senses............... It was nice knowing you.

My heart goes out to the students and faculty at these campuses. But let's be honest. The company aggressively started campuses that should never have been opened. The overzealous board pushed by Goldman Sacs looked for quick profits, slashing costs, high student enrollments and lost site of its mission to build strong programs that could place our grads. We were one of the best art schools in our area but I have witnessed our campus slowly dismantle all its strengths with these cuts and missteps. AI has always been about small class size, industry active professors, hands-on training and programs that were responsive to employment trends. Now, its about on-line learning, limited class offerings, cut-backs, adjuncts over full-timers and no real clear vision for the future. Decisions come from EDMC corporate and not from the participation of staff and faculty at the college. We have two campuses within 30 minutes of one another and they had talked about opening a third. This move to close smaller satellite schools and campuses with less then 500 students is the right decision for the health of the the Art Institutes. Let's hope this effort is not too late. As Millenials age out, GEN Z will be a smaller group to pursue and they will be a much more educated consumer after watching their older brothers and sisters struggle with a down economy and crushing student debt. We can only hope the new EDMC board made up this time of mostly educators and not money managers will get this company back on track. If not, the FEDs and court system may make the decision for them.

It takes a while to find the right job. I left after eight years I amade a nice increase with a 50% bonus that is looking to payout in full. The only hit I took was on vacation. I'd rather be in this position then fearing to collect unemployment at any moment....BTW I have a 401K, think about that while you're taking on water.

PS...the salary increases tied to enrollments was shut down in 2010 when the gainful employment crap hit the fan.

As to the commission remarks. Let's be perfectly clear, there are no commissions paid and there have been none. The suit regarding Title IV addresses pay raises based on number of students enrolled, but but not commissions. So, please know the history and post accordingly or go elsewhere Title IV has always forbidden commissions in conjunction with enrollments. This school and others worked around that by basing salary increases tied to number of students enrolled. Not a bonus (not allowed) not a commission. Now that it is put to rest...

To the OP: C - until I get hired somewhere else. Sucks using PTO for interviews.

To the commenter below: ADA's don't get commission. Nice try. Move along and troll on somewhere else on this site.

103580...there are no commissions paid...so...you don't have any idea of what you speak. I find it difficult to believe that most of the posters on here have no clue how the operations run..thus you prove my point...you don't or did not work for EDMC.

Anonymous103426 Who said anything about sales? I said a pay cut was likely, not a commissions cut. If they paid the real people who actually do the work there like the instructors a commission, it would be a whole different school. It figures that the same shumcks who are making their living misleading kids into dead end jobs are the same ones here bitching about loosing their jobs. You know, if you guys were any good at your jobs, they would not have to pay you on commission because they would turst you could do a good job on a set salary.

Anonymous103331-

If your skills were as good as you say they are, you shouldn't have a problem finding a base + commission sales job in the same salary range as you are making. My hunch is that you are another one of the over compensated losers, who is going to find a hard dose of reality very quick. There is always room for another sales person... if they are good! The world is full of Bllshtters, who talk the talk, but clearly can't walk the walk. Sounds like your fate has been determined.

Suck it dry to the very last drop. I am looking but not much out there that will pay what I am used to. Going to have to take a pay cut I am afraid. I just wish I could wash EDMC off my resume, but I have been here too long to explain some an employment gap. Besides, its all public, new employer can look it up if they want.
