When I joined Qualcomm more than seven years ago, I was drawn here by the truly amazing mobile technologies that this company was continuing to develop and for the chance to work with remarkable people like you who drive these advancements. I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of Qualcomm’s technologies and the incredible growth of the wireless industry. However, the U.S. Congress is currently considering legislation that poses a serious threat to our ability to continue inventing and innovating.
The Innovation Act (H.R.9) in the U.S. House of Representatives and the PATENT Act (S.1137) in the U.S. Senate call for overly broad changes to the U.S. patent system that would weaken the rights of patent holders – the individuals and organizations driving research and development of new ideas and solutions.
These unnecessary changes to our nation’s patent system would also stifle innovation and slow economic growth across America. In order for us to continue inventing and growing together, we must maintain a strong patent system that enables Qualcomm to reinvest in research and development, as well as license our technologies so others can further innovate.
