Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

There is a BETTER LIFE after working at Chase!

I was laid off a year ago (2014) - and no - I was not a "less rated staff" or an under-performer, but rather an over-achiever (met or exceeded performance expectations). My area of the company saw 4 other city locations close and the work shuffled to us, the one location that remained. The workload became crushing, overtime cut off, goals raised and we were all shuffled around to other different positions at a moments notice. There was no work/life balance before this happened, but afterwards life was hell on earth. Many of you are likely experiencing the same conditions. Do not fret, get prepared. Tap into Mullin's resources at once - the process of getting a job has changed. I made a change to a different field - one that has a much lower chance of being off-shored or affected by technology. I am exponentially happier! I work for a small company, can actually plan a life outside of work, help instead of compete with co-workers and the owners treat everyone with dignity and respect. This is what a work life should be like! Facing lay off is difficult, I know. Take any money you come out with and run to get into better circumstances. Money is not everything - I gave up $100k and great benefits! I make much less now, but I have my life back. Chase no longer is in control of my life - I am. It was worth it in the end. Not every company is like Chase! Go find one of those to work for! At least you are not looking for a job in a deep recession....and - Good luck!

I find it concerning that two weeks ago chase laid off approx 350 district managers and market mangers and those positions are no more. Instead MDs covering 20 branch's and the politics of these selected few drill sergeants aka bullies at work remain. Chase was great when it bought WAmu on the east coast here but has been gong down with employees moral and dedication. Good luck to all keeping their health and job with the extra stress and idiot MDs.

As someone who was in the same boat, leaving was the best decision I have ever made. My quality of life has gone up. I mean think about it from this perspective, you have to side eye an employee, who has a mental health professional on all their campuses. Do you know what the suicide rate is for a Chase employee? 1 too many.
