The combined oil and gas rigs fell to 868, the lowest level since January 24, 2003. We are almost at the lowest end of the burst cycle.

The merger will continue to create job cuts for the baker Hughes people probably for the next couple years. Halliburton does not like to keep incoming companies employees.
