As I walk over to my car to head out for lunch, I see a 1/16" wide scratch going from the front driver side headlight all the way to the rear taillight....it went down to the bare metal. I am fking pied right now. Once the Q security team finds out who it is that did this, I will use all my powers from my Sr. Dir. post to ensure that person is PIP'd out of the Q

@107667: Yes, we should not drive Japanese or Italian. Unfortunately, that leaves American and British, which are pretty shitty choices. OK, we need to exempt foreign cars built in North America, like Camry, Accord, … China is patiently waiting until it has economic might to take on Japan. More will come.
reviews are a joke. the defenders of the process are even more amusing. My buddy's review said he adheres to the code of business conduct by having a sunny disposition. I wonder what page of the code that's on.

Because it conjures up images of people with real @fumoney in Rancho Santa Fe? It's all so pathetic, especially for a suburban white dude in his mid to late 50s (correct me if i'm wrong). If you really have $250K of passive income a year, you wouldn't take "weekend getaways" because every day is a weekend. And you certainly wouldn't be working at QC, or need to post on a QC "layoff" site. QC has plenty of one percenters who are above such tacky blather. Unfortunately all of the passive income in the world can't buy class. Most ironically, you don't even get your own trite lesson, that people can be happy with less than you. Especially while still young.
See. That's where I think a lot of you are completely wrong. Being "rich" is relative to how much money you can enjoy your life with. For me, I don't need $100million rich to live a pretty happy life. I'm perfectly happy with an order of magnitude less and a steady stream of passive income that is equal to your typical director's level software is fine by me. I have no aspirations to be 0.1% rich. I'm fine staying within the 1% category. As far as drugs and hookers. Really? Is that all it boils down to? Really? Ewe....Hookers are for people who can't get laid by the people they want. I have homes in other real cities, but personally I don't like the city life. Parking is a real big issue in SF for instance. And I like being behind the wheel most of the time.

But I want to make sure you are happy, so by all means, feel free to let me know if you aren't interested in continuing the lease and find something more fitting. Afterall, what's most important to me is your happiness, even if it means you'd rather live elsewhere...." But let this be a lesson to any of you that are doing financially much better off than most people. You really need to tone it down in front of people that aren't doing so well. A few years ago when a lot of people were unemployed, losing their homes, getting foreclosed on, barely scrapping by, I stopped taking my newer toys out unless they were in places that either never left my sight or were in good company with others that brought their equally nice toys. While going on the daily grind of meeting acquaintances, I dressed down (flip flops/t-shirts) and drove my beater cars around. So when folks started talking about layoffs, shrinking paychecks, rising rents, inability to save/invest, not being able to afford the mortgage, etc, you put on that solemn look on your face and say things like "yeah, it's tough out there. I can totally relate. It's not easy. We're all feel the same pain...Look at me, I can't afford to drive a new car, I'm still stuck with my 15+year old beater, I can't afford new clothes..I'm living shoestring to shoestring. just like you.." Don't talk about your porsche, your bmw, your rental properties you bought at a steep discount during the downturn, your residence in north county that you just moved into after selling they previous one and taking a $500k capital gains distribution tax free, nor should you talk about your weekend getaway trips, or how well your stock portfolio's return absolutely crushed that 1-2%CD for the past few years (because remember, many of those folks don't have money to make end's meet, let alone buy index funds, stocks, etc)... In other words, pretend to be poor....And say "I totally understand. I can totally relate..." You know, do what Hillary Clinton does and say you are "flat broke".

If you really are a senior director, this would probably be a good IOT project for your ubderlyings. Its not that hard to do.
Take you car to a decent car audio shop and have the wire it to power that is always on. And let them do the install front, back, both sides (4 total at least) make sure the installer puts them in inconspicuous places otherwise someone might smash your window to get them. You should have a camera that is able to run a continuous loop. I run a custom DVR I built myself using a Intel atom carputer that is 4x4 running linux
107586, I am the OP and thanks for the recommendations on the body shops; I will check them out. It drives me crazy that I have a front/rear dashcam arriving today from Amazon that likely would have recorded this event. What cameras are you using, and how are you controlling how long they roll for after you park the car? Yes, lesson learned on my part
If you beat a 911 on i280 with a Volvo stock engine, it was obvious he wasn't really trying to beat you since he probably didn't think it was worth his premium fuel cost and or race fuel he had in the car.
This has got to be a joke....but if not...I never bring my car Porsche or BMW to work. For the exact reasons you mentioned.
In a downturn, you are bound to piss someone off. Second. I never tell people on a blog if I am buying what exactly I got edpecislly if its a low production car. Especially considering how many cayenne turbo s do you think there are? And third, I never bring a nicer car to work than my boss even if my net worth is more than his due to me being there a lot longer and having had good investments. Because that's a great way to get laid off or not get the maximum raise ,bonus ,grant. Always maintain a beater car and bring that to work and keep a low profile, especially when things arent great. I have two extra beater cars on top of my other two weekend cars and a track car. At my previous company, when we were riffing people, I had to let people go, and I promptly returned home and parked my then new car in my garage and brought my 10 year old beater. My colleague didn't listen to me, and his lotus was trashed that day.
If you need a good body shop, take it to west coast specialities or if you want to drive to Santee, Phillips autowerkes. Some people say good things about amato's but I didn't have a good experience there. Because the car I brought in wasn't high end enough(it was my beater German car)
Chalk this up as a lesson learned if this isn't a joke. And you dont need to worry about pipping the person. Because if the cameras did see this guy do it, its felony vandalism which I am sure is grounds to get fired.
I always have interior cameras rolling when I am parked. Consider getting one installed.
Maybe you can create a matching stripe on the other side to make them look like racing stripes.
