HAL is not getting out of the bit business. They are selling their bit company and keeping BHI bits (The Woodlands). Where on earth do you come up with this idiocy?
Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) today announced it will separately market for sale the company’s Fixed Cutter and Roller Cone Drill Bits, Directional Drilling and Logging-While-Drilling (LWD)/Measurement-While-Drilling (MWD) businesses.
Heard from director level that the Woodlands will be closing. Announcement coming in a week.
Woodlands facility occupies prime real estate these days - they'll relocate sometime but not until after the takeover.
