Everything that I have looked at indicates that people over 50 were targeted for layoffs whether or not they were ready to retire. The specific group that I've reviewed had a career of 30+ years of service. The people were not complacent, had strong performance reviews.

pressure pumping dispatcher making $95k,thats bullshit, if so no wonder we all are losing our jobs.....
I am 60 years old and was selected where a H1B visa employee and a guy 29 years old were not. Go figure. My lawyer says I need a "smoking gun" something saying they singled me out. My reviews were always outstanding and my performance unquestionable.

Hard to RIF people under 50 if everyone in your department is over 50. No age discrimination in this case at all. It comes down to who is most replaceable.
At this point what difference does it make who goes in what order..........sooner or later all Baker will be out and Halliburton will have taken over all the few positions of Baker people they moved over for the adjustment period.

I've seen at least one employee who had an outstanding performance review escorted out. Age, years of service, position and of course salary played a big part. And the employee had to sign a form saying he would not sue Baker before he would receive his severance.
Long service, under performing, low value and trouble employees are what I've seen get the escort walk. Most of the long service also had one of the other traits against them.
I'm 66, a pressure pumping dispatcher and was making 95k a year for essentially answering phones. Closed down yard and sent me packing. Must be age discrimination.
There are still some remaining over 50s that will go as things come to a just and final resting. Some of these jokers have almost 40 years with the company and some have less than 5 years but for certain they will go because their worth will no longer be relevant.
They're all millionaires after 50 so who gives a fck. Send em all packin
Interesting topic raised here, and I am sure any information regarding discrimination to our elder workers layed off will be quietly swept under the BH carpet. However I believe this is going on with only over 50s being layed off in field operations in some divisions and regions.
That is correct. Everyone over 50 and they will not release your severance unless you agree not the sue them for Age discrimination or race ect...
Most of the management are over 50, the only skilled workers getting laid off, needed to be laid off. Management and white collar are the ones on that need to worry, the majority of them are over 50. Quit looking for a conspiracy.

If this is the case a group action could be taken against Baker in the US, as this contravenes labor laws. Not sure on UK labor laws.
Absolutely correct. This is what we saw in Houston for the most part.
