EDMC has stopped issuing Earnings Reports to stockholders. Don't be surprised if someone calls for criminal prosecutions. Of course, it's not likely to be followed up because power players Goldman Sachs and KKR are involved....http://finance.yahoo.com/news/education-management-edmc-earnings-whats-212009925.html

Anonymous9670, thank you for your words, I felt as if you were reading my mind as I was reading them. I was a fulltime professor at Ai for 20 years. I loved my job, my amazing colleagues, the incredible students; but mismanagement from the top, favoritism and bizarre backstabbing, and profits slowly destroyed the campus I worked at. The pay was always an insult, way below the average for the city I was in; especially in comparison with other "for profit" colleges nearby. As well, the pay was not equal. If you knew someone in the executive committee, you were always favored for the small raises each year despite trends to hold off raises to keep costs down. Even sabbaticals were an inside decision. I once shared my pay with a colleague, who thought I was joking. He was 15,000 above my pay, despite starting just three years prior with no MFA. When I was told that my sabbatical was one of the finest proposals that a sabbatical committee member has seen in a long while, but that another committee member wanted their close friend to receive it that year, I was appauled and offended. My final draw was not a layoff, but I finally resigned, and moved on. I was tired of hearing the complaints from students about the lack of ability and skill from adjuncts that were hired in the past few years to replace laid-off dearly loved and respected quality faculty. Adjuncts that had no degree and were very good friends with the director of the department became common. Its one thing to have a personal impression about these replacement faculty, but when students are coming out of their classes with little to no work or skill, and have lists of complaints that they have presented to the director and dean that are constantly ignored, one has to make the decision to leave.
Anonymous96701, this was one of the best and thoughtful replies anyone has made on here. There will be the typical ignorant reply however, they should always be ignored. You are correct though, they do EXACTLY as you describe it. You have to be a Brown Mackie "survivor". Anyway, thanks for replying in a respectful way.
If anyone could answer me that would be great. What is going to happen to the EDMC and the schools under them? Are they going to have to close the schools because of the 400 million dollar debt? As far as I can tell they are not making money, they are losing students, and the can't recruit new ones so whats going to happen?
The faculty is grossly underpaid and under all kinds of pressure to pass students who cannot pass a final exam! I loved EDMC and I loved my job there. I was not a faculty member (could not have supported myself on instructor salary - sheesh!). I worked at a managerial position for 11 years and I did everything in my power to make sure everything in my department was fair, honest and ethical. Yes, I suspected that the salespeople in Admissions were unethical, and I let it bother me for some time. I then decided that other departments were not in my control and all I could control were the circumstances and employees in my own department. After working myself to death for 11 years (for the good of my students who I loved and wanted the best outcomes for) and achieving excellent results, I was was forced to resign or stay and fight the bogus PIP ("Performance Improvement Plan - basically the kiss of death) that was presented to me. I don't know anything about CK, but if he can save even one employee from going down with the EDMC Titanic, then more power to him. There are many employees who have made all kinds of sacrifices to try and help the students and EDMC couldn't care less. It was never about employees or students. It was always about who was getting rich while EDMC took advantage of them. I hope that students and employees see the writing on the wall and get out while they can. EDMC broke my heart. Don't let them break anyone else's spirit.
Camden Kid is not providing any new issues to question. He doesn't even fact check or completely research the who/why/where/when/hows of the things he posts. He provides just enough information to stir the pot but it is already old news that he just googled and doesn't even understand the items he posts.
Also EDMC grossly underpays many employees in other sectors, other than the overpaying in salary to the admissions reps. I know for a fact that certain positions there make no where near as much as their counterparts in any other place within the workforce. If people are not going to work and fight to make a change for the better than it would be best to get out into a new job before the ship sinks.
I'm with 486- I taught there and out of 8 different colleges, EDMC pays the lowest wages by far. It seems that the most expensive for-profit schools pay the lowest teaching wages. That has been the rule for all of the for-profits that I have worked with. It's a shame.
Faculty is certainly not one of the higher compensated positions, I was in Corp just short of 5 years. Worked in the development of new schools at the budgeting level... Was impacted by a RIF...
Faculty are definitely not paid 30% more then the industry standard. I left EDMC 6 months ago and work for another college. I make more money and get the summers off. "Someone who knows", are you saying that EDMC is millions of dollars in debt because they pay their employees too much?
96475 I hope you're not living to " high on the hog" EDMC pays about 30 % over market for comparable positions... Someone who knows
The EDMC execs feel that they don't have to put out an "earnings" report because they aren't earning anything. They are losing millions though. When the SEC calls for the Quarterly Losing Report, EDMC will be all over it. And for all the people on this site that attack CK, why aren't you asking the questions he posts? You don't think that learning that EDMC is losing 500 million dollars quarterly is a telling sign that the doors are closing? I would say that these are the signs that we are going to be out of jobs soon and then all the people who think this site should only be used for talking about getting let go, will get their wish. Congrats to all the naive EDMC employees.
CK aka dahnshaulis, with all the negative exposure and presence you have created for yourself, your odds of being employable in the future are greatly diminished. I hope you are independently wealthy so you don't wind up living in a box under a bridge bown by the river.....
Camden Kid, even though this company deserves everything that may be coming to it, you are worthless being involved in this site. Is it just your goal to spread dissidence? Are your actions providing any suitable, realistic, helpful goals? This site doesn't provide any valuable information regarding layoffs or what people can expect if layoffs do occur. There are many trolls who like to spew rumor to get a reaction so that they can laugh. You are no better than they are. EDMC will get theirs regardless of what you do or say, so why don't you find some other topic to another audience to complain to. There would still be time to turn things around and for EDMC to make positive contributions in the lives of people that want to better themselves. If people are going to do nothing but complain or just start trouble then it will never happen. Great men are forged in fire, it is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame.
since voluntarily delisting, their reporting requirements are greatly deminished. That is why they voluntarily delisted. no more quarterly calls and a significant reduction in paper work. This was done as a " cost saving measure". Not everything is a capitalist conspiracy .....
