I was laid off few months ago. Some of my teammates and coworkers who didn't get laid off are foreigners working under the that HB one something visa. The decision was made by upper management. That is just the way businesses are being conducted nowadays anywhere. The foreigners have nothing to do with it. I just move on. Move on man...
They seem to be highly educated and work very hard. They took care of lots of issues for me.
This is just history negatively repeating itself just like from the earlier immigrants (Italian, Irish, Polish, Chinese, Japanese, etc...)

Halliburton will layoff everybody: rednecks, foreigners, young and old ,because it wants to start over with new people. It will screen all the applicants very carefully.
Looks like office boys and girls getting a bit jumpy and touchy here. Looking from the field perspective all I see in Houston is layers of fat middle management, with slightly different worded job titles doing the same work. A lot of job overlaps that could easily be streamlined with some hard chopping of the foreign deadwood.

Us Houston folks will find another decent job while your field ass will go back to a 10.00 per hour job. I was made fun of several times when I was got my degree and was making 65000 a year when the field employees were making 100000.00 plus a year. All I heard was a degree is worthless. I still have my job. How about all the field employees?
Boo hoo hoo, want some cheese with that? I like my job in Houston, make the money I need and work 8 to 5 indoors in A/C during the summer and heat when it's cold. My point, been with Baker for 20yrs and we have plenty of people that came from the field doing what I do. So either you just suck or your not applying yourself. Get your head out ass and quit complaining about it, if you want it go get it.
A message from all the field employees still working- we wish that Houston gets cut deeper than anyone else. You don't know sacrifice until you stay up 36 hours straight, work in sleet snow ice and heat and get rewarded with an option to relocate to a yard that will stay open - no relocation allowance given of course. Hope you can afford your mortgage payments on your woodlands high class houses when you get riffed.

If it wasn't for all these foreigners, nothing would be accomplished. Those gun toting, president bashing, thinking they are the best in the world Americans are a waste of space. Work, perform and don't complain all the time. Every employee is like a prostitute, you get paid to perform a task if you like it or not. But at least you have a choice, you can always leave if you don't like it. So leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The primary reason why Halliburton is buying Baker is to eliminate it as a competitor. they are going to cut Baker up and sell it piece by piece.
