Did the staff that was laid off get severance?
They acted like the students can continue to go to this campus. Of course, I don't believe them.
Tucson was a Presidential pardon for GC. Purely a favor to keep the newlywed employed. He has mouths to feed.
Saving Tucson makes zero sense. Down the road from Phoenix, never successful. It negates the explanation of closures. The Tucson economy is very weak, so maybe they feel there are recruitment opportunities from the ranks of the marginalized population. Not to mention, there is no local job market for Ai programs. Tucson, you are being exploited.

Charleston was on the cusp of students and profitability... Obviously tipped in their Gabor. Tucson? Well, that Campus Prez has some mighty friends. Saved his ass.
"Saved" from the original list are San Fran, Charleston, Colorado, Nashville, Tucson. Added to the list were Wisconsin and SLC. I feel for everyone still at EDMC, but especially those that were on the original list. Must feel like torture.

A short time ago, you received a message from Ed West, our CEO, about some important changes coming to The Art Institutes. As he shared, we, together with the respective local boards of trustees, made the difficult decision to no longer accept new student enrollments at 15 Art Institute locations. At The Art Institutes, we are focused on the following key strategies: improving student affordability, innovating the teaching and learning experience, new program creation and optimizing our cost structure.
The decision to stop new enrollments at 15 locations will enable us to align our resources in our most competitive environments. This action provides us the important opportunity to optimize our cost structure to be able to support our creative arts programs, and to increase local engagement in our strongest locations.
This decision will impact the following locations: Atlanta (Decatur), Fort Worth, Houston (North) Jacksonville, Kansas City, Michigan (Troy), New England, New York City, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, Silicon Valley, Tinley Park, Washington (Dulles), Wisconsin, and York. A number of the locations are satellite, off-site learning or branch locations in a community where we have more than one location – a structure that simply no longer works in today’s environment. Their main locations will not be impacted by this change and will continue their long-standing traditions of serving as an important source of creative professionals in the design, media arts, culinary and fashion fields.
At The Art Institutes, our mission is to prepare students for professional success and we do so in the face of changing conditions and external forces. Our ongoing ability to offer our current and future students educational opportunities that meet their educational and career goals depends, in part, on maintaining close alignment between our resources and area demand.
I want you to know that our priority is to do everything possible for our students and to assist our employees in these locations as we teach out the programs over the next few years. All students currently enrolled in these impacted locations will have the opportunity to complete their course of study and it is our intention to see them through their programs and into careers in their chosen field. Unfortunately, the decision to cease new student enrollments at the affected locations will require staffing changes. Some employees’ positions will be impacted immediately. We will be providing those employees with severance benefits that include job placements assistance and encouraging them to apply for open positions within The Art Institutes and EDMC. Others will remain with us through the teach-out period to see our students successfully through their programs of study.
I want to personally thank each and every employee at these locations for the work that they have done on behalf of our students. This decision is in no way a reflection of them – they have worked hard, under difficult circumstances, for students at these locations.
Now, more than ever, our focus must be on providing students at all Art Institutes locations the quality education they expect and the educational value they deserve – with the passion we all share for helping them to achieve their educational and career goals in the creative arts.

Says:cease new enrollments. Locations in community where more than one location. So, what that means, you will have to go to the other location for teach out, go online or just stop going. They will shutter the locations. The letter is an attempt to make one feel good. Read between the lines. Remember those of us that posted the largest Stef were accused of false info.
If I can assure you of anything.., these locations will close sooner than later. Plan wisely.
It was stressed that the campus is not closing. Just that they are not accepting new admissions and there will not be a May start. April students can get their money back. The rest can continue their education at AI (teach out).

Attrition will upend teach out... I give it 12 months.
It is a teach out, not immediately closing. Campuses will be around for two years.
Says: Critical milestone. Financial restructure. Strategic examination. Yada. Yada. Ceasing new enrollments at 15 locations. Teach out will take 2 to 3 years (ummm nope on that Ed, attrition will stop the bleed in less than 12 months)

So thankful for this blog. I was told it was unfounded. I was not blindsided today when the"unfounded" information became a reality for me today. 29 high school reps across the country. 15 campuses closed and so is my time with Ai.
Tinley is a teach out. Admissions let go today.
HS department cut the reps in the rumored locations (Jax, ATL-D, NYC, Boston, and a bunch in the great lakes) The "rumored list" was 100% true.
Thank you so much for sharing this information. This has been a stressful time for many of us. Even though the information is hard to hear, it is way better than not knowing.
