Looks like hall can do with out people who worked and brought in the money. GOM has let go 8 cementers who had between 30 and 40 years service. And will fill there spots with younger seconds. It will be interesting to see the new Halliburton offshore c ementers.

I am a Halliburton cementer, from this younger cheaper generation of which you all speak. The truth of the matter is the first of us that got let go were not the cream of the crop. Yes there are some older cementers that are on top of their games. There were also some 30-40 year shelf hands that were on the other end of the spectrum. they have also laid off some younger guys that weren't getting the job done. Yes Halliburton is cutthroat at times and lays off the wrong people sometimes. The first round of cementers was not one of those instances.
Sad to say.The GOM has let 10 cementers go that had between 30-40 years service. As hard as they tried to hire cementers from other companys, and get Halliburton land cementers to transfer offshore. It makes no sense at all. Someday the market will return. And talk about green hands to take the place of the 10 cementers let go.I hope it bites them hard in the problem jobs and money returned to customes.
The current managment from top to bottom would not make a pimple on Mr. Halliburtons backside. Mr. Halliburton said and believed that his company was his employees.
Halliburton seem to be destroying the PSL TSS, I'm in the UK and everyone I know from TSS in the UK or States has been chopped. I don't believe for one minute that these layoffs have anything to do with oil prices, I think it's to do with the Baker acquisition. Also I don't believe it's only been 9000 layoffs, I've heard it's more like 17000 now. They have been so ruthless with these layoffs I know three veterans who have been with Halliburton for decades and they have also been chopped
I guess all is quite in the GOM. No more layoffs this month
Well put.
This is the new Halliburton. It's all about upper and mid management. The people in the field who worked sick, injured, missed holidays, birthdays, school functions, day off. And when you get around aarp age. Good bye see you later. You younger employees pay attention. This is what's waiting for you.
Our corner of cubes here has been talking amongst ourselves as well and have the impression that as we look around the younger of us fared much better during the last 6 months. time to move on.
What halliburton needs is more pdc and cement cord. They can generate emails from the office to the new young SS IIs offshore on how to do the job at hand. Sorry I forgot the ones in the office have sat behind a desk so long they forgot now. Ok generate emails on forms to fill out .....lol
They targeted 30-40 year old shelf hands. And let a deepwater hand go this month who was about to make 35years. Sorry chum no Rolex for you. We will apply that to the PDC bonus.
The management of the GOM released the employees with the most experience and classified as senior citizens of the GOM. They informed me that it was not the age, but take a look at the first to be released from the Shelf in the GOM. What a. Golden hand shake. It would not pass as aluminum.
COBC - LOL
The new on the job training for Halliburton. Emails from pdc. / service cord. Computer schools. Best work methods. More emails. Class room instruction on how to run tools.how to cement.more emails.... lol
you won't see them after five, on the weekends or holidays. I guess the customer will have to get use to waiting!!
Ethics. Lol
So the customer suffers. That's the bottom line. Halliburton was the best in the business. I worked there for 39 years bringing in tickets. No desk Job for me. I see what they are replacing the older hands with. Like you said the bottom line is the bottom line. Like to know down the road what the payout will be for poor quality jobs.
Rest assured they will generate emails galore to cya.
Ethics. Ethics? Weeee don't need no stinking' ethics.
Ethics!? What do ethics have to do with it? Business/Companies don’t exist anymore to be your favorite steak house nor do they concern themselves with reciprocating loyalties. Companies weigh the tradeoffs of quality, reliability, ethics, integrity, corporate ethics, corporate morals, legalities, safety, cost and timeliness AGAINST the actions they must take to make that profit. That is JOB ONE. Keeps a gaggle of lawyers busy too. That profit keeps the shareholders happy and the top executive circle wanting more and jumping through the hoops. They may put up a good front on all of those frontline topics, but the bottom line is the bottom line.
Gom/lafayette
Is right on the money. It's like your favorite steakhouse. Business slows down. The management lay off the best cooks and waiters. Hire ones that will work cheaper. You know what happens. It's no longer your favorite steakhouse. Halliburton will use the younger cheaper hands. Some will be good. But some of the ones I have seen do not have the work ethic s the older hands had.But for the most part this will be the new halliburton.
The cementers Did not work on BP locations when let go
Yep....the companies are getting rid of employees that are retirement age. After layoffs, wages and bonuses will be cut, hours cut...and on and on. the G.O.M. is down 30 percent on rigs and it has just starting to hit here.
Did these 8 cementers work for B.P a few years back?
100136 must be in a office crunching numbers.
Function as normal. Lol
They will continue to function as normal.
