Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Huntsville employees......

Houma just received a transfer from huntsville. Is this just a transfer or is huntsville closing? Odd occurrence during these times.

I have been looking for a job in houma area since being layed off during first layoff at houma. I didnt see it posted. Just sayin, maybe i missed it but doubt it.I do see huntsville job never seen houma/schriever job. I worked at houma mfg for over 25 yrs and have friends in quality. They say this is a new position. Im not for anyone losing a job it sucks. Just seems like HR does shady stuff.

Crazy I tell ya! There's another one of these "under the radar" positions posted for a QA Specialist at Huntsville. Oh wait, that's the normal job board it's posted on...nevermind, go about your business, nothing to see here.

Has HR arrived? Clearly an assumption based on the confused remark. It appears HR posted the job, prob internal post under radar, this guy got a transfer with help of some manager, done. Another day at WFT.

I'm confused, what's laughable about a position posted?

Job position posted!? Thanks for the laugh. Whats not laughable is the pattern. The pattern that this new hire will likely be kept as NEEDED knowledgable dedicated experienced employees are soon escorted out during round 3. Senior leadership is so disconnected from the shop floor its disturbing.

My guess is that Houma had the position posted and rather than hire outside, the opportunity presented itself for a simple transfer.

That sucks but not surprising - any other time you could have - but since this all started you were out of luck - ur right must be someone special - good luck to you

I asked to transfer in January after 3 years w the company due to my spouse getting a new job. I was told no transfers were being allowed, and I was threatened that if I wanted to move to Corpus w my spouse that I needed to come in and resign immediately to save someone from having to be laid off from my group. I even offered the suggestion of me driving into Houston (staying w friends) during the week in order to keep my job, but I was told no I could not keep my job in Houston if I moved to Corpus.

Nothing to do with Huntsville closing, just a transfer that made sense for all parties involved. Houma received a good one. One of the sharpest person I've known.

I did not think you could transfer these days. I thought houma was slow and laying people off like the rest of us. Is this a long term employee?
