Teach-out schools

Anyone else in the "teach out" schools think we will not be around long enough to teach out? We were told 2-3 years and that we would receive a 60-day notice when our time was up. Of course, I don't buy any of this. Leadership has proven over and over again they are not to be trusted.

Wondering if anyone at the teach out schools has been fed the same crap.

I have never worked for such an unscrupulous company. Our first campus president said he had a five year retirement plan, but headed for the hills after two years, i'm sure with a fat retirement package. For me, that was the beginning of the end for us. Our discount dean plays everything so close to the vest that I have to wonder how EDMC finds these people who are willing to screw with the lives of employees they claim to care about.

My heart goes out to our students. Many of them will never be able to pay back loans, get credit, or buy a home. These huge loans will be hanging over their heads for their lifetime. Our faculty is dedicated to helping students because we have hearts and want to see students succeed. Administration at all levels will sit fat and happy after the schools close and not give damn about the people they preyed upon. We have brought students along to "college-level" work who would never have been accepted at other schools. My sense is that it is the same across "the system" (hate that tag).

And before anyone posts asking why did you stay or why not get out, let me say this. I need insurance. I had cancer and need ongoing treatment. I live in a place that is essentially adjunct heaven which we all know carries no insurance or other benefits.

But again, my sadness is also for the students.

60 day notice is a sham, management si just buying time... logic, if you have not received a notice, you don't need to both looking for a new job yet ( if you trust us). This will keep classes covered until they pull the pull. Also much easier to sell an up and running school than a vacant former school with dusty assets.

You all will be lucky to get a 60 day notice.

We all know here that the 2-3 year BS is just that. BS.

The "company" was slick in announcing these teach outs before summer break. Of course they are hoping students don't come back after a 3 week break making it easier for them to close the doors.

I am really saddened for our students. But, in the grand scheme of things, people come last in this company.

The Indy Ai and BMC have lawsuits and are under investigations, wont be around long. There are videos on You Tube from the Indiana news channel.

Yep, its a pipe dream, kool-aid feed for the employees so they don't jump ship before the Captain takes the last life boat. Here is what is going to happen. After the proclamations about how everything will work out fine, cracks in the wall will start to show. Students will drop out sooner then planned. Classes will not be full to capacity anymore and department heads will find ways to push you out before your time without notice and blame it on "low enrollment". The sooner students leave to other schools the sooner they can shut the thing down and call it a day. Since they wont be taking in any new students, there will be no motivation to stay open. They will see it as a loss of money paying people to stay to the end to run a half empty school. "sorry folks, with much regret we are closing at the end of this week without further notice, unfortunately the low enrollment has caused us to revise our original plan." Please contact your local unemployment office to see if you qualify for government assistance.

Attrition and the opportunity city to take online classes will end the teach out. 2 to 3 years is a pipe dream.

We are being fed the same bull. Our president is going to Indy Ai and the discount Dean is running the show now. My big questions is, when are they going to start handing out the 60 day notices? Who is staying until the end? How long will we offer housing?
