Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Layoffs coming after earnings call?

I keep hearing rumors that newly created positions such as New Student Advisors are getting eliminated soon as they are not sustainable for the long term. They have too few students to make enough profit to fuel the greed up top even if they actually have the time to truly give students the amount of support they need. I also hear some enrollment is going too. Anyone else have more information on this?

While sources are not mentioned by anyone posting, it is typical for a school to have a research component and this includes enrollment trends. UOPX is locked into the unenviable position of low enrollments, bleeding cash, a near 50% drop in stock value, and an earnings call this Friday with no good news in sight. It is not going to change. Its cheese has been moved and it won't move to where the cheese now is otherwise it would be enrolling and making money. Time is running out. The only thing left to do is collect paychecks until the end.

@108552--You are just coming to this conclusion now? UOP will be entirely online by the end of 2018, perhaps sooner. Thousands more will lose their jobs in the months ahead. I bet you 'graduated' from this phony school, huh?

It is almost certain there will be more learning center closures within the next few months. Some centers have office space for a few dozen workers but through layoffs and other forms of attrition now only house 6 or 7 employees. These same centers are at best at 50% classroom capacity. The sad thing is that this almost seems like it was done intentionally; to slowly phase out the ground modality entirely. Even sadder is that the ERs and EMs at those centers don't see the writing on the wall, even as they are surrounded by a dozen unoccupied cubicles.

Many in management across all departments will be fired this fall. Enrollment will be cut in half too. This is what Phoenix executives are forecasting.
