Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Riddle me this

Tell me what is the fascinationwith so many employeeswho are no longer employed or affiliated with EDMC still posting like they just left yesterday. Get on with your life! You're so happy to be gone but you spend all your free time on this forum? You must have a down right boring and agonizing life that you have nothing better to do. Let the employees talk about the layoffs so i don't have to read through your bs. Get a life, buy a pet if your lonely but for Pete's sake move on!!! Besides I'm tired of reading outdated information about people who aren't even in leadership anymore. Get your facts right, you look dumb.

899 Hate to bust your inaccurate bubble, the whole over 50 and can't find a job is a baseless argument. I could provide a legal pad and more of folks who have moved on. EDMC is not the hell some folks make it out to be. Yes, it is fun to bash them here, but the employees that come and go in a few years time do go elsewhere and EDMC on their resume doesn't prevent that. One has to look for a job and be able to interview appropriately to earn the job. I've interviewed folks that bash the old or current job while telling me how great they will be in my company. That puts a stop to any thought of hiring. Even if that is how one feels, tell them EDMC is the best job ever, you appreciate what you have learned there and how that will parlay to their company.

Most folks do not have an additional source of income and do work paycheck to paycheck. If that is the case, then work hard at EDMC and search harder for a new job. I always remind employees that your resume should be at the ready and based on the current standings at EDMC they should be interviewing instead of thinking "it can't happen to me".

I was displaced from a job 16 years ago when they went out of business. I didn't weep and moan, I took the unemployment (paltry) and spent time interviewing and found a great job, even better than I had. I retired from that firm in 2010. Yes...I'm one of those over 50 folks you said can't find work. In fact after spending several years in retirement, I got bored and I went back to work in January...BTW I'm over 60 and landed a very good job.

So, brush up your resume and get looking they are out there...

And, I don't care if someone wants to bash me on here...bash away...

  1. Not only does your analogy suck but your resume and interviewing kills must also suffer greatly. I pray no one dear to you gets raped, you pathetic waste of space. Comparing losing a job to something that changes your life completely. The only insensitive piece of crap is you.... Which is probably why you deserve to live paycheck to paycheck and your family abandon you. I would too and Iddon't know you! Signed 635

635 Did I touch a nerve? You don't like my analogy? Boo Hoo, go cry to mommy. YOU are actually the insensitive one telling people to get over it. You have no clue how much loosing a job can affect peoples lives. People who support a family who are now on the street. People who are over 50 who are now considered over the hill for hiring. Single people who have no other source of income or backup to survive. May I remind you the job market is still very difficult. Its not like any of these people were making great CEO pay to begin with. They cant sit out a year or two until something livable comes along. Most are living pay check to pay check. Loss of a job can displace and even destroy an entire family. I stand by my analogy. Wake up and smell the coffee and show a little sympathy instead of fake PC outrage.

It is amusing that the typos are a bone of contention. This is a forum for comments not an APA formatted paper for a dissertation. Weed through them and take the valuable informative comments to heart. Grow up. Your arrogance and ignorance are showing.

Yes, oh how you know me so well. What a horrible analogy. You can't compare a bad company to a rape victim you insensitive pile of shit. I'm not condoning what is being done but jeesh get real... No wonder most of you don'twork there anymore, probably for good reason.

The situation is not as simplistic as you suggest. EDMC and the Art Institutes ruined a lot of peoples lives. Not just students, but also faculty. Not from just simple layoffs but from blatant manipulative tactics to achieve their goals and blame the victims. When you manipulate people like that, they dont just move on. They want to see things made right. Most are powerless to fight back. EDMC has an army of lawyers and trust me, those guys want to stay busy to keep their billable hours flush with cash. Watching the downfall is really all these people have in terms of feeling like the universe finally turned the tables on the people who deserve it the most. That and it is mildly entertaining when some of the kool-aid managers come here and try to pretend there is nothing wrong. They are singing on the deck of the Titanic while people are drowning and just cant comprehend what is about to happen to them. "Pay no attention to those decks below the waterline folks, this ship is unsinkable" LOL

525, you sound like one of these people that tell women to Get Over It when they are raped. The fact of the matter is, most former employees feel like they have been raped and trust violated without their day in court. The downfall of the super rich billion dollar EDMC is a circus side show one can't miss. America loves reality TV and we love nothing more then to see those who thought they were too big to fail, actually fail in a big way. Anyone got any popcorn? I am enjoying every minute.

The quality of the school is based on the teachers. Many good teachers are now worried about their future and feel a sadness for the school. There is no reason to post judgmental comments. If your feeling is get a life - than follow your own advice.

Though no longer there, some of us have more info than current employees. I posted the list... I don't work for EDMC any longer... I get calls and texts and I update here all the time so those still there get done insight. And heard AIW has had one f/t culinary take the vol. rid. Not enough volunteers yet and they are indeed going to a full 11 week quarter instead of 10 + 1 to align with other campuses across the country. That IS old news I posted a week or so ago, but the v/rif is new.

Mao, perhaps you sound dumb. You got any updates 525? If not, leave the updates to the adults.

The company has wronged so many people that everyone is watching to see it fail. Most people who have worked there feel the same. This board is better than any reality TV show as this is much more deserving and real. So 525 unless you want to contribute to the saga of Paul Chambers and jake Godek and Steve Read playing games with the midget I suggest you get back to dialing before you're next. As far as everyone else is concerned does anyone want to play toss the midget or her salad? She likes heavy ranch...

@ 525 you seem a little sensitive.... After having worked there, I have to agree with 530, interesting keeping up with gory details and the worms squirming....

I'm still an employee (until next week it seems), but I would assume that people come back here to see if they people that mistreated them are still around or just to offer encouragement to those of us that are still here. I know that I will be reading up afyer I'm let go because I want to read the gory details, embarrassing to admit but true.
