I'm miserable. I can't find another job. Been searching since the beginning of the year (8 months)

Used to work as a process engineer in the fab. Absolutely no work life balance and lots of stress and very little bonus pay.
I'm happy to say I never had a bad job ever since I left Intel.Took me a while to find another job but it was worth it. Leaving Intel was the best thing I ever did for my sanity. I get treated like a professional now and actually have evenings and weekends to myself. Its such a great feeling.

Lets see:

no more repetitive use injuries ( left before chronic scenario)

no more working with completely bonehead coworkers --there were a lot of those.

no more losing money due to my 401k money locked up in intel stock

now i live where most dream they could live

now I have a better job

now I have a life !

I am having a much better life and better pay outside of Intel. Intel has become the Xerox and IBM of the 21st century.

Having the Intel experience looks great on a resume. Life is much better and my kids are much happier for it.

ISP class of 2016 here. Got another job, better paid and a lot of less stupid people to deal with. What always amazed me about Intel is the lack of civility and good manners among colleagues. In my job search I realize Intel doesn't pay that well anymore.

I accepted a job as a manufacturing technician at Intel in 1996 knowing full well that some point the microchip giant would reach a point where the demand for its product would eventually fall off. But while in and a part of it's heyday, I was able to work with some amazing co-workers and get more education which prepared for the day I would be asked to hand over my blue badge and pager. I was able to walk away both proud and happy for my future career and lifestyle moving forward. I always felt so sorry for employees who would take Intel and their jobs way too seriously. Lots of good lessons to learn in that company including knowing how to not loose yourself in all the stress and high expectations. I played it he game and enjoyed the pay and benefits while always keeping my personal agenda as a higher priority than theirs. And trying to do a good job for them without sacrificing too much of myself and personal goals and aspirations. I can now swim with the sharks in any job scenario and maintain my self-esteem, dignity, and credibility as well. Thank you Intel New Mexico for helping me to step up my game and aim even higher in life. Best of success and happiness to all who are still pondering the fate of their employment and future careers. Intel hired you because you were the best. And you still are and always will be wherever you go to work next. It's you who made Intel and Intel that made you. Go for greatness in everything and all that you do! Peace!

ERPed here and SOOOOO happy!!! I counted down for years to the day I became eligible to retire, then waited for a package once I became eligible. That was a long, miserable time waiting to get out but I wanted a package (if I could stand it that long and almost couldn't). Thankful that I waited and VERY happy to be done with that place! I much prefer smaller, less bureaucratic companies but I'm done working now! Retired early and going to enjoy my life. I'm 3 days into it and it's still a little surreal. :)

I made lot of money at intel however I spent tons of time to do slides.. I got VSP last year and I was happy now making more money for 8 hours of work. My mgr screwed me a lot and spent horrible days for last few days at intel, they can tell me that I need to leave.. I got job in 3 days... I am the only person do potenta work in whole group... One more thing I had worked 10 years at Intel...

So far so good, Intel thanks for the year salary and health coverage.. enjoying it well. waving goodbye to the folks still on the Titanic. Consensus from those in the know outside, the feel for the once great company. As we talk they realize more and more how their assessment of the Titanic is indeed correct, LOL

Intel forces it's employees to do the work of 3 or 4 people... They embrace lean manufacturing then lay people off anyway...they ship jobs overseas and import foreigners to take American jobs...they are not positioned well in the mobile market and are slowly downsizing in the USA...their best days are over as reflected in their stock price.

Intel embraced lean manufacturing which to them means force employees to do extra work and do the work of more than one person... Intel's cost increases per wafer so they layoff staff and whoever is left has to do extra work... ridiculous

Redeployed in 2009. Took a paycut for 2 years to work at a company I was very meh about. Missed Intel. But then, oh then, the time I spent at that company paid of big time with a jump to 2 other companies at much higher pay. Either way, I survived leaving Intel and I know i make more now than I could at Intel.

Life is much better. I'm regularly chillin' at the beach now. I've picked up cool new skills that employers want. Coworkers that are helpful colleagues instead of backstabbing rivals. Working on cool new technology.

Life is freakin great. The skills that one picks up in Intel can ONLY be used within Intel. After my layoff i had a hard time finding relevance in the REAL world.(VLSI and Driver debug aint gonna earn you bread anywhere else).

A quick 1.5 year college degree in Software Mobile/apps and Web programming got me into the world of Mobile App development and I'm having a kick ass time. Treated like a rock star who can use his skills in banks gaming or anywhere throughout the world. And yes I get paid more than what I made at Intel for doing less work.

Intel underpays overworks people. Intel is not the best thing in the world just saying.

Feel sorry for those who wanted to stay with Intel and thought this is the best company to work for. Actually I found many other places are way more better than Intel in terms of career growth, pay, benefits, performance rating, bonus, etc. very glad that I got the ISP and be able to find a better place.

Life after overall much better. New work with less political calculus and more real calculus. Less pay but I will live longer. Some companies dont mind hiring over 50 workers but you have to show you kept up and are still energetic.

My life is much better. I wish I had been fired years ago (seriously). In fact about 17 years ago when the stock was at the same level it is at today would have been a good time to get fired!

among the all companies I work for, intel has the worst productivity and most politics. It is managed as mass production factory. The layoff package is very good. Intel is not good place to work for engineer.

It all depends on your drive to go out there and reach out to people, put together your resume, apply for jobs and network. It was stressful, but one has to build a schedule while being in transition and don't lose motivation. I was lucky, I left intel with VSP (VPS /layoffs a few years ago)and found a job within 2.5 months. My work- life balance is better, I have more time to think and create wealth, not just have a paycheck. Work at intel can become sort of a thread mill where one is so busy that one does not have time to think about career within or outside of Intel.

Anyways, i wish lots of strength to the people who got laid off.. it may take a few months to overcome the shock, but leaving Intel is not the end of the world, your life and future depends on YOU.
