I don't care if all they are making @ Qualcomm in 10 years is hamburgers, the RF/analog guys will be flipping the burgers and getting massive stock option grant-refreshes. It is a company founded by and for the enjoyment of RF/analog guys, those people have nothing to worry about ...
If you are a software engineer who just puts the parsley around the steak - the RF/analog designs in the chip sets - you have plenty to fear. PLENTY TO FEAR!
Yes RF people will be safe since the future of the company requires it.
But if you have been getting 3s and 4s for a while, they will artificially make it 1 for the next review, and if you don't show a 5 performance within 3 months, they will lay you off as well. This is called rank and yank.
Exception is if your superior does not like you for personal reasons he will come up with excuses and try to push you out.

part of the reason snapdragon is faltering is because of the modem, people are catching up and are able to put it on same die just as well as we are
