Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Avoid Sabre

If you're considering working for Sabre do your research. Read these posts and check out glass door among other sources. Sabre does mass hiring and of course mass layoffs. They do not take stock of skill sets when performing layoffs so if you're one of the higher paid employees or not a favorite, you'll be in the group of layoffs. The weak directors (those who don't know the business) promote difficult, uncooperative co-workers to the position of Manager solely because these types of employees have some knowledge if the system and products when in fact, these people have absolutely no managerial skills. Think you'll get a fair annual review? Think again. Sabre uses a bell curve and even though you may deserve an exemplary review, HR will direct your manager to lower your rating to help them meet the bell curve. Have you ever been marked as unrehireable by a company? You will be if you're laid off. You're annual review (the one you never got to see or sign before you were let go) will be marked as unsatisfactory AFTER you've been terminated. Think I'm a disgruntled emoyee or ex-employee? Not so. Think you're stuck at sabre? Think again. There are tons of jobs out there.

No where near 17 years with the company and I don't plan on spending very much more time with a company that isn't committed to the U.S.. Sabre may hire people that are in the US but what they fail to mention is that they spent the money to bring them over here and sponsor them. Really? Is there not a development manager in the entire USA that could do a better job? Most of the folks from India are book smart and have the associated acronyms (degrees) suffixed to their name but they're lacking common sense and the ability to work with, not against (watch your back) the people on their team. What I find funny is that they define their worth by their title for instance not "Product Manager" but "Manager of Products". We all laugh about it because it's not about the title.

There are plenty of jobs out there - just make sure you sign on with a company that believes in the US and will hire citizens and will not sponsor or work with the snake heads that sponsor.

This is actually very accurate. I have been with the company for 17 years and have seen everything listed above. I will add that Sabre will try everything to move your position to a low cost country (MVD,BLR) and will try to get out of paying severance if they can. Their goal is to hire interns with no prior experience so they can hire them cheaply for positions at HDQ. Its sad they continue to treat employees like an expense they'd rather not have.
