Not much managerial accounting going on at Chevron. Use the local roustabouts and rough necks with just 20 or so Chevron D&C pros. Cut the boondoggle. Many of the projects are joint operating agreements. Why is Chevron sending hundreds of Americans?

In Houston don't know the numbers but doesn't Sasbu overall have several thousand people? Like 4-5k
Is Sasbu the only group that has a group in both Houston and the asset location. Guess there has to be some overlap so makes some sense why it would be shaken up
First of all this is complete BS in that Chevron is not going to have Houston-based SASBU employees the option to be laid off or further increase their cost to the company. Anyone familiar with expat compensation knows how expensive it is to have an expat there. For starters even rotational staff have a salary multiple between 35% and 40% based on if you are at an office or camp location in Cabinda or Luanda. If you're an expat that multiple goes higher and you receive monthly and quarterly stipends for food and incidentals. You have a free house, you also have a driver at your disposal, you also receive two airline tickets twice a year to Europe. If you require complex dental care you can visit a specialist in Europe. Starting to get the cost picture?
Let's say it is true and you are made that offer, as long as you are single or do not have young children you would be stupid not to give it some serious thought. Sure you will be out of your comfort zone, but you'll gain experience and friendships that outweigh any frustration you may encounter. And by the time you rotate out of that position you'll have saved enough to pay cash for home that needs its own zip code.

I heard all SASBU engineering to be done from Luanda also. Part of local content agreement during latest round of fiscal term negotiations with SONANGOL. After the 4 current phase 4 projects are complete by Q1 next year there is literally nothing left in Block 0 and 14.
All I can say is there town hall said all, and I mean all, move to luanda or find new job.
Do you honestly think they would even consider moving SASBU folks to Luanda so that they can give them the 50%+ expat bonus?
If SASBU is gone here then it is gone for all but a handful of PSG26+ that report further up.
